Think outside of your passive and soft box Andy.

Murray and Tinordi in the starting lineup at the same time is a major step up compared to our D last season.

Murray may not be a very good defenceman, but he's a beast. It's a team sport and it's a loooong season. We've carried dead weight on D for years. This one at least throws his dead weight around protecting the crease.

Habs fans sometimes. Tinordi's a lot better off in a lineup with Murray than one without him. It's hard enough finding a role in the NHL without the pressure of being the #1 tough guy on the D corps. Murray's injury might open the door for Tinordi, but that's not necessarily the best thing for Tonordi or the team.

Hope it's something that heals well.

Stop bringing common sense and logic into the conversation. People need the ability to irrational bash one person while calling the next person a super hero.

Was "Murray IS a lower-body injury" joke been made yet?

No. Likely due to the fact that it's not really funny...

Murray is a pylon whose career has tailed off dramatically in the last few years. Teams will focus on his deficiencies (moving) and it will cost the Habs games when and if he plays.

It's "through," not "threw."

"Threw" is the verb "to throw." "Throughout" is probably a better fit anyway.

And yes, that is a good point. For the money Murray costs, on a salary cap-basis, the team can certainly afford to lose him for a short period of time, especially if it's a groin-related injury.

And here is a crazy/stupid question. Has any coach ever tried to use Murray in front of the net on the PP, as Byfuglien was used by Chicago during the Playoffs? Mobility and speed aren't an absolute concern during those situations. He's also not likely to get pushed around and could get some garbage goals for the team as a result since we don't happen to have any forwards with the height, weight, and muscle, who could do the job.

Feel free to make fun of the idea and perhaps me for asking it, but his size could be an asset in a situation like this regardless of the fact that he's no offensively-minded player.

It will then, be up to Murray and the coaching staff to have him play better positional D...then he should be fine, and as everyone knows he is a great and heavy hitter, and defends his teammates, something the Habs lacked big time last year...

Murray is at best a 7th defenseman. He has the ability to win puck battles along the boards but he's got to be able to get in position first. Same goes for his ability to hit: You can't hit what you can't catch. Ad for defending his teammates, 1.5 mil for a face-punching pylon is excessive.

Why is Murray being a "Pylon" a bad thing?? It's the best thing Montreal could hope for. We should know better than anyone the magical ability of a pylon to divert traffic.

Murray is at best a 7th defenseman... except he's never been used as such his entire NHL career... and that is, while playing for two very good teams.

Think that out, and try again.

At the rate this is going and because we are the habs afterall, someone should start an injury thread again. There will be plenty, as usual.

Murray is fortunately day-to-day and should not miss a regular game.

Drewiske... meh. Couldn't care less. But at this point, if we're replacing a depth d-man, I wonder who should get the spot. And stop talking about Tinordi. He needs to play.

Murray is a tough strong guy, but his skating is soooo bad. His footwork is really weak. We need a Murray but who could skate somewhat. He's going to get beat a bunch of times. The only thing I like about him is he can clear the crease and let price see the puck. It's way too late to train and teach him how to skate though lol

well now MB look like a genius

i take it we'll start the season with this Gorges, Subban, Markov, Diaz, Tinordi and Murray. Actually not a bad top 6 but I'm not sure how to figure out the pairings.

Doing pretty good for ourselves! Bergeron was right when he said we need more depth.
