Well I guess the Wild won't sign Minnesota native Langenbrunner, and pehaps it's time to hang em up Langs.

Miika Kiprusoff finally, formally announces his retirement.

http://flames.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=681811

Quote:
The Calgary Flames announced today the retirement of goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff from the National Hockey League.

“Miikka has been up-front with us since the trade deadline that he wanted to finish his outstanding playing career as a Flames player, and that the 2013 season was going to be his last,” said Flames General Manager Jay Feaster. “We, as an organization, made it clear to Kipper that we did not want him to make a rash or hasty decision. We wanted to give him time to get refreshed during the summer and spend some additional time to make his decision. Had we been prepared to accept Miikka’s position back in April we could have announced his retirement at the end of the season. We purposely chose to wait and give him more time to ensure this was the course he wanted to take. In returning to Calgary this month he advised us that his decision remained the same, and that he was retiring as a player.”

The Chicago Wolves announced Monday that they have signed right wing Shane Harper.

HARPER recorded 10 points (5G, 5A) and 35 points in 48 American Hockey League games with the Adirondack Phantoms last season. He also skated in 15 ECHL contests with the Trenton Titans, where he registered 14 goals, 13 assists, and 27 points.

per Capgeek, San Jose has re-signed RFA Nick Petrecki to a 1 year, 2-way deal worth $715,000 at the NHL level.

With Petrecki signing, there are just 8 RFAs left unsigned.
-BUF: Cody Hodgson: Haven't really heard anything about the negotiations.
-LAK: Martin Jones: I can't imagine there would be a huge disparity in these negotiations, but here we are Sep. 9th and still nothing resolved.
-NYR: Derek Stepan: It's also strangely quiet on this front.
-OTT: Jared Cowen: These negotiations are kind of drawing out, he could be sitting out for a while.
-STL: Alex Pietrangelo: Last I heard they were apart by at least $1 million per year.
-TOR: Nazem Kadri: It sounds like they're far apart. The last I heard was he wanted 2 years $7 million, while Toronto was offering 3 years at something like $5.5 million.
-TOR: Cody Franson: Another drawn-out negotiation.
-WPG: Arturs Kulda: He's apparently looking for a KHL deal.

The Los Angeles Kings have agreed to terms on a new two-year contract with goaltender Martin Jones, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

per Tim Panaccio, Chris VandeVelde, who played last year for Edmonton, as well as for Oklahoma of the AHL, has signed an AHL deal with Adirondack, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers.

Tommi Kivisto signed with Ilves (SM-liiga) but he is still under contract for another year with Carolina organization (they didn't mention if it's just a loan) I don't know if he will be on unconditionnal waivers (same situation that Chris Bourque)

Also Ryan Lasch (TOR) and Anton Blomqvist (CBJ)!

I have a feeling Kivisto and Blomqvist are loaned to the teams, while Bourque and Lasch will be waived and terminated.

I recall reading something somewhere about Blomqvist's sign-and-loan with Malmo (similar to what I believe Dallas is doing with John Klingberg) was mutually decided upon for the sake of his development.

As for Bourque, I wonder why it's taking this long for the Bruins to terminate that contract. He's not on their main camp roster, and he's already played a handful of games in the KHL, so it sounds like the two have split.

I almost wonder if Bourque's contract was quietly terminated during the summer, as the main people (often only people) who report waiver activity are McKenzie and Dreger and maybe Bourque's waiving fell on a weekend, or day when they were both away from their Blackberries.

Cody McCormick May make the Sabres as a 4th line Center but could be sent down to AHL(rochester). It appears it will come down to him and Kevin Porter for that 4th line Center. Winner gets the job, loser goes through waivers to Rochester. If they were to keep 14 forwards then its possible both stay on the team.

Buffalo appears likely to start the season with 8 Dmen with their 1st round pick Ristolainen getting a try out before deciding if he goes to the AHL or back to the Finish league.
