So McCarron is going to miss the season opener with the London Knights.

Either you have yourself centering the top line or you have Desharnais on two lines.....?

That would be awsome. I certainly hope so. The most NHL this McCaron sponge soaks in, the best it is.

Can't fill up your own barn for an NHL game = don't deserve an NHL team.

With that lineup its more an AHL team. So its a pretty good crowd to watch a AHL game with NHL price tickets. People arent force like at the Bell Center to watch those crappy pre-season games. So they make a wise decision by not going.

Think about it. Montreal might be able to get more people to attend a freakkin' BASEBALL game over 2 nights in the freakkin' OLYMPIC STADIUM than Quebec can get people to show up for a hockey game.

I'm sorry guys but I'm a die hard habs fan, I live in Quebec City, but I refuse to pay Bell Centre ticket prices to watch AHL scrubs.

I WILL drive to Montreal during the regular season though.

And I don't say that because I want the Nordiques back, because I don't... and even if they do come back, won't cheer for them.

Clearly the lineup has nothing to do with the ticket sales, as sales have been pathetic before today when the lineup became known to the public.

You would think that fans in Quebec would be smart enough to realize that they have to eat their brussel spouts before they get dessert. They are definitely sending a less than enthusing message to the NHL in regards to future relocatioin or expansion.

I am surprised at how little love Greg Pateryn is getting. 6'3 220 RH D who has really improved since last season. This kid is about ready.

Honestly, pre-season is about evaluating our prospects in a real-game NHL setting. Not so much about pleasing the fans with the best line-up possible.

Maybe it has to do with the marketing. I didn't even know until yesterday that they were going to play in Quebec.
But if the NHL can have a team in Florida, TB, Carolina, Phx, etc, then they can have one in Qc. They don't need to test the market with a preseason game. It's all about sponsors and corporate deals anyways.

Maybe because his defence and offense don't project more than 3rd pairing/6th D at best? He's doing well but he still needs time and has a low ceiling.

Wait why did Prust delete that tweet? Nothing wrong with that.

Exactly. I have no idea why anyone would question Quebec City's ability to have an NHL franchise when there is such a thing as Sunshine hockey or Desert hockey.

........because hockey is failing miserably in Florida and Phoenix. If they are going to put a team in Canada that does absolutely nothing for marketing in the U.S. it has to be very viable.

For those who understand the economics, the NHL wants to have a broad foothold in the U.S. in order to attract and maintain large U.S. national television contracts. I am all for getting rid of all of the non traditional hockey markets for Canadian markets and northern U.S. hockey markets. The problem is that it is just not financially viable and small market Canadian cities do relatively little for national television revenue. Canadian cities may not bleed like the American cities but there is very little financial upside to their inclusion.
