Not a fallacy but definitely a travesty.

No it wasn't.
Actually, a bridge deal there might have allowed them to keep more depth for longer, which in the end, would've helped acquire and keep 1st tier d-men. Paying all of this absurd money for a guy like RNH who just came out of an ordinary season is not a good idea.

As for Karlsson, like most Habs fans, you just are hypocritical.

While I agree its stupid to try and pretend Karlsson didn't win his Norris fair and square, if you're implying it's the same thing for Subban's win I have to disagree. Subban actually plays defense, and has a very well-rounded game. Karlsson's offense is just simply incredible enough to make up for the fact that he's average at best in his own zone.

That's not what I was implying. I agree with all of the above. But the bashing Karlsson gets is very often over the top, even though he's far from being an expert in his own end.

So I'm curious about Toronto's strategy regarding Franson:

- He's an RFA who performed pretty well before his contract expired.
- He's 26 or so, meaning he's very close to being UFA eligible.

- The team he's on has very little cap space left and willingly got themselves into that position by spending and spending.
- The team he's on may further reduce that cap space by signing Mason Raymond.

Why would Leafs management expect that he would take a two year deal at dirt cheap pay (he's far beyond the bridge deal stage of his career) taking all the above into consideration? Why should Franson take that deal? I wouldn't blame him for sitting out. I mean, he technically doesn't have any leverage, but the NHL team that has his rights can't just expect a guy to sign at whatever scraps are left over.

Probably a visceral reaction to all the Karlsson love from everyone else... Sort of like how everyone absolutely loved Tim Thomas the goalie and the guy (until he started making political statements).

Also RNH just swindled Edmonton. If there was a player who needed the bridge contract to further evaluate their play, its RNH. His injury issues and consistency outweigh his obvious talent. Im not sold on him ever reaching his full potential (he's obviously not a bust though)

I just liked Weber way too much that year, he was the best in the league.

And there goes Kadri, only going for hits on players behind the net not paying attention.

I think Karlsson should have won that year, but man is Weber ever incredible. Such a perfect mold for a defenceman, paired with actual results. I do hope he gets a Norris one day.

Wow...

Clarkson and Kadri were two on Pageau in the last altercation.

Talk about a bunch of tough guys

Kadri is such a fake tough guy. His only hits are either charging or when people aren't looking (which is totally different than 'keeping your head up').

And of course he can't handle Pageau himself.

Yeah, I hate hearing about Pageau's hat trick (pretend I never mentioned it), but Kadri and Clarkson double teaming him is pretty cowardly.

Edit: Kadri escapes a minor with Pageau in the box for 4min, and ends up scoring on the PP, haha.

Can't believe Ottawa got boned that hard... what a horrible call. The Leafs get the PP? Doesn't make much sense to me.

Of course, the Leafs get a PP out of this mess and score on it.
Clarkson and Phaneuf might be the worst couple of "fake tough guys" there is in the league for any team.

Lol, Leafs score again after being dominated for most of the game. Come to think of it, that's what happened last season too.

Don't even get me started on Phaneuf. In every aspect of his game, he has literally built a career on reputation. He is the very definition of the 'all-tools-no-toolbox' player. So overrated.

Kadri is a disgrace. I don't like him. I don't like the player. And I certainly don't like the person.

Lucic in the other way is everything the Habs could use.
