2nd line wont be better with Plekan on it.. only problem is.. the 4th was wayy better with Plekan on it.. that 2nd line is really starting to piss me off!
That SUCK.
The only damn reason we dont change the lines before that becuz we dont want to break Higgins - Koivu duo, but now HIGGINS IS INJURED. Time for a damn line change, Kovalev-Samsonov had 24 games with preseason games to develop a chemistry and we have NO sign of success so far. Actually, they played 2 solid games this year. That all.
I want Koivu and Kovalev back together, with the Quebececois.
Samsonov need a finnisher like Ryder. Throw Bégin or Plekanec in and it will be a nice line.
Dont touch at the 3rd line.
The 4th line... Plekanec/Bégin with Lapierre and Murray or Downey.
Long-term Pleks won’t help the second line with two floaters on it. I’m not even sure how good Koivu would look centering them Short-term it may work for a game or two.
You'd figure that the 4.5m$ player and the 3.5m$ player would be the players to get the .450m$ player more consistent. Not on this team...
Sometimes I really disagree with your opinions (no offense) but I'm with you on this one. Samsonov and Kovalev can NOT play on the same line anymore because they are too much of floaters to keep on one line at the moment and they really need the right types of people to play with, not more floaters.
I might be yelled at by some people for calling them floaters with justifying how good offensively they are, but admit it, they are floaters.
by the way Shabutie your avatar is making me laugh so hard

IMO Kovalev needs to sit until he is healthy. I would sit him when Higgins comes back and go with the following lineup...
Higgins, Koivu, Latendresse
Samsonov, Plekanek, Ryder
Perezhogin, Bonk, Johnson
Begin, Lapierre, who ever but I would stick Kovalev there until he produces.
I wonder if Plekanec can get these guys going more consistently ( is that how you spell it ? )
for sure , with him as center they are going to " not produce ", but with more regularity ...
Bad decision fro the management . I can beleive that they are trying again that combination when they were so much ineffective together . At least , the fourth line was better with Pleky there . Now we are going to have two lines that will suck .
Kovalev at center worked one game, the first time he played there...
Kovy has to start playing better cause it could be his last chance... Im not sure Gainey is very happy about him..
Everyone knows that I'm not a fan of Kovalev...but more and more he's proving that he isn't a team player... Look at what happens when players are taken off of his line... Perez, Plekanec, Samsonov... They all looked better when playing with other linemates. Personally I'd rather keep Sammy than Kovalev for that reason alone...His style of play just doesn't mesh with others on this team. I can't see Gainey or Carbs being happy with what Kovy has done so far.

at least it works for one game , something we can't say about when he was playing with Plekanec .
It's not a good move ; the good move would be to separates Kovy and Samsonov . But Plekanec proves us yet , that he doesn't have the offensive skills to plays on the first lines .

The problem with that is that the 3rd and 1st line are perfect right now and will get even better when Higgins returns.
I think Allison should at least be considered. I'd have him play with Sammy and AK on the PP and have Pleks play with them at even strength. Allison would be used pretty much as a 4th liner even strength and as a PP specialist. It might work.

So what? Kovalev and Samsonov are in the lineup right now and we need to get the second line going. We can't expect to do very well if we are a two lines team which is what we are right now. Good teams need to be able to roll at least three lines that can score.
Besides, no line is ever perfect. Carbonneau will need to shuffle his lines until he finds four lines that work well on a regular basis.
There would be no real cause for concern if the second line was actually good defensively and had a player who can win draws. Fact is, that line sucks defensively, sucks offensively and has no one who can win draws. In fact, I'd wager much of that lines lack of offensive success has to do with not being able to win draws. Even if Plekanec didn't produce much offensively with them, the two Russians were more dangerous in the offensive zone when they played with Plekanec.
