RNH has agreed to a 7 year contract extension with the Oilers. Now money released yet.

7 years 42 million. 6 per year. they are going to have some trouble with the cap soon I think. One of those 6 million players might be the odd man out, and I would guess Eberle.

He doesn't deserve that right now, especially since he hasn't been healthy enough to even play a full season yet.

It is crazy. Especially since he's shown to get injured often (well, in 2 seasons anyways).

People said the same thing about Hall. Honestly we won't know for years if the Oilers overpaid.

Hall has had one good half season though, too. I'm not saying because of injury, but these big contracts based on potential are scary.

It's a risky contract. He hasn't proved a whole lot. If he can reach his potential, it's a great contract for the Oilers.

That can be said about every contract.

Former Flyer prospect Jakub Kovar is now in the KHL. He has been doing pretty well stats wise (1.66 GAA and .946 save percentage), though he has only played 4 games thus far. He is playing for Yekaterinburg which seems to have been bad for its duration in the KHL http://en.khl.ru/clubs/automobilist .

Kovar progressed very well over the last few years in the Czech league, he also looked good when given opportunities with the national team - especially 2 years ago at the WC. I would love to see him in the NHL one day but I have a feeling his career will follow the example of guys like Alexander Salak or Jakub Stepanek. I just hope he won't end up like Marek Schwarz (St. Louis 1st round pick in 2004) or Tomas Popperle (had a few chances with CBJ but never lived up to the hype; I mean hype in the Czech republic)

By the way, just a little personal experience. About a year ago I had a chance to meet him, Ales Kotalik and Milan Michalek (they are all from the same region and did some charity there) - somebody asked Kovar about whether he is superstitious or not. Kovar answered that "he is not superstitious and therefore he doesn't have any pregame rituals - because he believes that rituals bring bad luck."
Kind of a beauty pageant answer if you ask me
Nevertheless, he is a very kind and down to earth guy

The guy who think Tavares is a lock for Canada's top 6 made me laugh. What a homer.

I don't understand why JT gets so overrated on here.

I'm all for the Flyers getting another Winter Classic game, but why the hell won't they disperse the games among the other teams in the league?

Although after this year the Winter Classic itself isn't going to matter anymore with all of the other outdoor games. Just like IMO the Winter Classic this year isn't any bigger then the other games.

Bottom line is $ and location. These are GIGANTIC markets, they want the place to be sold out, all 3 games sold (AHL/Alumni/WC).

I hope it's the Flyers or the Pens just to watch the West fans explode in anger.
