Regarding the Aliu talk, his checkered junior career is well documented but I haven't heard of any attitude problems since he turned pro (but maybe I missed those). It just seems like he doesn't have the talent.

Maybe he could surprise on a tryout, can't hurt.

They are going to be a HORRIBLE team this season.

They can't really be worse than last year...

Macenauer has always battled the injury bug. Jesus Aliu...that one's a head scratcher..deviated from the character mantra with that one.
You would think they would bring in Moises or Felipe, since they have more ties to Montreal already. I mean Jesus was once Montreal property but didn't play a game before he was traded.

Why?

They have added 4-5 quality AHL vets plus a strong crop of young guys coming back a year older. They should be A LOT better.

They have no blatant weakness.

Add Pateryn, Didier and Sullivan--young blue-liners who also shoot right--and you think the Habs might look for something else.

An interesting group of invites, that might be the most invites I've seen at Hamilton's camp. Too bad preseason games aren't on tv, would like to see how they do.

One of the most interesting training camp rosters I have seen in all my years watching the Dogs. I would guess they would sign 2-3 of these guys to PTO's or 1-year AHL deals.

Up front, Macenauer, Wiseman, Laliberte, and Aliu could fight for a deal. Wiseman is (was) a pretty prolific scorer in the AHL, could be a good add.

McIver, Lashoff and Price should duke it out as well on the backend.

This team could be good this year based on what is projected to be coming down from the Habs and grabbing a few of these guys in camp. Heck, I might actually shell out for a 10-game pack. Did 20 game pack last year and it was tough to watch most nights.

I'm actually kind of excited for Aliu.... He's deceptively talented offensively but lacks the jam to play defence at a high-level. Still young, still able to turn it around. Sounds like he put some work in this offseason.

I might sound stupid to some of you, but i'll still say it:

I would have LOVED to see the Habs organisation to give a second chance to Ian Schultz by giving him a tryout for the bulldogs. It seems obvious that the bulldogs are auditionning for the goon job. Ian Schultz would have been perfect for that role. He doesn't have the attitude problem that Aliu has. Yes, he came in camp last year in bad shape, but man, he was coming off a great year for a tough guy. He had 6 goals, 17 assists for 23 points, while having 104 PIMS. That's pretty good for a tough guy and only his second pro season...

Anyway, i would have loved it...

He bounced between 3 ECHL teams and 1 AHL team last year, he must have a problem somewhere.

I agree, plus I heard he showed up out of shape last year.

I'm curious on the Aliu thing, but it's just a camp invite so no risk there. MB knows him from Chicago, so he can't be that bad...

I agree. He could have bounced back. But lets not write off Aliu just yet either. Who knows he might impress.
