well, if he wants to focus on special teams, do it with the starting night lineup.

again, slow starts every fall........maybe trotz should use these last preseason games to warm up his "A" team, rather than scrimmage and get another look at the ahl.

I just don't get this every year!

Please point out something really positive that has come out of these first three preseason games. And explain the absence of offence from the guys that were signed to produce and the players left from last years team. Its not all about being negative, its about reality. If the people here can't accept that this is not a very good team again theres nothing I can do to convince you. Like another pointed out there is no change in the preparation of the team for the season opener. They have lost three games to pretty weak teams in preseason without Stalberg, Legwand, Fish, Wilson, FF, really being a factor. And if Carter Hutton is the answer as a back-up there in heapo doodoo.

You guys can pump up the offense all you want, the truth of the matter is th continue to be impotent. ANd with the current roster if Rinne goes down this team will struggle to get 60 points.

You can say this about a lot of teams, but I do thing it's so very true in our case. As bad as last year's injury bug was, Weber, Rinne, Josi, and Klein stayed healthy. Lose any of those guys, and our team really starts to fall apart.

I think we don't make the playoffs healthy, but if a few guys start going down, it could be a long year.

Cullen - 1 goal, 1 assist for 2 points in 2 games.
Legwand - 0 goals, 1 assist for 1 point ... not sure if he played 1 or 2 games.
Fisher - 0 goals, 1 assist for 1 point, 1 or 2 games.
Wilson- 0 goals, 2 assists for 2 points in a maximum of 2 games.
Forsberg - 1 goal, 0 assists for 1 points in 2 games max.

Yes, how terribly unproductive. In the preseason. Obviously we're going to be awful.

Okay, so the backup goalie situation isn't looking good. What about Hellberg? I know he got injured, but surely he has been doing better? I haven't kept up with him much.

When you consider that this was against Florida and Tampa, Both teams who were celler dwellers and poor defense and goalie issues. This is not good news...

Leipsic survived round 1 of cuts. Doubt he makes the big squad, but a good sign nonetheless.

What were you expecting? Six-point games from all of them?

This is the most hypocritical answer of all time. If you aren't willing to accept an answer that doesn't agree with your point, why ask it? And saying it's not good "enough" based on the competition...in preseason games...in mid-September is really reaching to save your point. Reading too much into the preseason is the worst thing any fan of any sport can do. If we had won these games 7-1, we would be like "ohhh I know it's just the preseason but we're sure looking good". Irrelevant. We lose badly in two games and now it's "ohhh we're awful, look at this crap". Again, irrelevant. We're playing scrimmages that have crowds and goal horns. Doesn't mean anything unless people want to read too much into it.

Ok I give in. I guess we should just forfeit the season then.

Seriously though it is pre-season with only 1/2 to 2/3's of the regular roster playing. They should have already sent home all but maybe 2 of the prospects to allow the team to begin to gel, but instead they sit 1/3 to 1/2 of the regular roster per game. I don't think the situation is quite as bad as all the doom and gloomers are letting on. I haven't lost faith in the team yet especially considering only 2 of the D men who played last night have more than 3 games experience. Josi was scratched, Bartley didn't play. Only Weber and Klein. That leaves Jones, Ekholm, Jarvinen, and Bitetto as the remaining D-men. That's why 5 Goals against were scored. Rinne could have been in there healthy as ever and still probably would have allowed 4 of those at minimum.

I do think we will have some issues if they don't start to put this team together now. But to say this is concerning I do not think you can say that yet, considering the team they iced last night was essentially the same team experience-wise that they were icing at the end of last season.

Hey guys, how has Seth jones looked to this point? Does he look as NHL ready as everyone initially thought?

The level of panic by some people is insane. That's all I can say. Also, it's entirely possible that we improve through 82 games over last season, but still aren't good enough on a league-wide scale to keep people from complaining non-stop.

As far as I've seen, he looks pretty good. There's a slogan the organization uses that says "The road to Nashville goes through Milwaukee," but apparently Trotz and Poile agree that there MAY be an exception this year for Jones and Forsberg, because of how impressive they've been.

Well, not just that, Jones would have to go back to Portland, and I think there's truly nothing left to learn in the WHL for him. Even if he doesn't play top four minutes(and it looks like he will, to start,) it's better for him to be around the pro game, learning pro habits.

I've got a passionate hate/love relationship with pre-season. The only thing you should be taking out of these couple of weeks is that it's great to see hockey being played, and second, hope everyone stays healthy. That's it.

Think about all the guys we've had that really stood out in preseason.

Marian Cisar is the first to come to mind.
Jan Lasak looked all world
Timofei Shishkanov as I recall looked untouchable and the hotest prospect we had.
I remember the rave reviews on Brookbank and Schnabel by Trotz, the former even getting 3rd star of the game in a preseason game.

Scotty Upshall, Kyle Wilson, Jonas Andersson, Darren Haydar and the one that really fooled me, Teemu Laakso, I was sure he was the real deal......

Here are my next 18 cuts to get to 24 (I know 23 is the max):

Forwards:
Cehlin, Henderson, Moser, Guilder, Leipsic, Watson, Salomoaki, Rask, Sissons, Liambas.

Defense:
Ford, Valentine, Jarvinen, Piskula, Rodney.

Goalies:
Darling, Mazanec, Hellburg

Final cut?

I have 7 D-men, not sure we need to carry 7 but that is how I see it for now.

Did anyone watch the game? Did anyone see how they did on the ice? 5-1 usually means a drubbing and we may have totally sucked out there. Then again, we may have had a few breakdowns and they buried their chances and we played well the rest of the game. Everyone getting upset about something no one was able to watch is laughable. If we all saw it that's one thing but it's a preseason game with a limited roster and guys getting used to each other, big freaking deal.

And for all the talk of us always getting off to slow starts, didn't we start off 5-0-3 one year? I know we didn't lose in the first 8 games one year but forget the record and the year. I thought November was more of our swoon and then we start to come around in December then kill it in January and February.

What do you want to bet that the team has more than 8 wins through the end of November?

Right now you're basing assumptions on nothing.
