Blunden has gotta go. Not just after this game, right NOW. Get him away from McCarron. Mac made a couple really nice passes that ended up being turnovers because Blunden sucks.

1st P observations

We played gritty hockey convincingly!
Price with the suicide puck placement grr
Gallagher: how much punishment can he take??
Tinordi / Pateryn > Bouillon (dunno about Murray)

Go Habs Go!

What a primadona
He is going straight after the head in these scrums, and its hard to believe that he got away with his actions against Dietz and Gallagher. Corrente got the penalty for less but it should have been staal.

Very strong period for the habs even though it doesn't show on the scoreboard. Price needs to clear up some communication issues with his D. There were two flubbed plays between the d and price, one of them led to a goal. Its acceptable in preseason but they are backbreaker type of goals if they carryover into the reg season

Really not impressed with Tinordi. Sure he had a strong fight against Gleason and landed some big shots, but he just stands and watches as Erik Staal punches Gallagher in the face and does SFA. Who cares about staged fights, defend your f%$^ing teammate!

He should have dropped the gloves and pounded the crap out of Staal. Who cares about the extra 2 for instigating.

Playing over his head or In over his head?

The meanings are opposite... which one were you referring to?

I don't understand the people who says Eller hasn't played well, he's been carrying the puck well in the offensive and made some nice passes. As well as protecting the puck very well and playing good defense.

Won't happen but :

Pacioretty-Desharnais-Gallagher
Bourque-Plekanec-Briere
Galchenyuk-Eller-Gionta
Prust-Bournival-Moen
*White

Gorges-Subban
Markov-Tinordi
Murray-Diaz
*Bouillon-Drewiske

Price
Budaj

EDIT : Forgot Parros but Drewiske is injured so we would still be ok for the 23 men limit.

Dietz and Pateryn taking more chances out there, great to see their confidence growing. Tinordi looking like a boss out there as usual. Big Mac needs to GTFA from Blunden.

Talking about Blunden, too bad he doesn't have any ounce of skill. He can skate, is big and works hard. Just absolutely no skill what so ever. Even with the tiniest ounce of skill, he could be a mainstay fourth liner. But hey, crazy talk.

I didn't even notice him. For half the period I was like "Is eller playing tonight" Then all of a sudden I saw him skating around. Definitely not his best period

I would sooner he picked his spots. That would have taken the faceoff outside and maybe negated a power play. There is too much of this immediate retribution crap. Better to take a number and make them pay when the opportunity presents itself.

It's pre-season and he's playing with a D group that he's not used to playing with. Communication problems are not something I'd get all worked up over. Nor is Carey's ability to handle the puck, which usually is a huge help for our D.

Would be surprised if Bournival is not on the team to start the season.

Pateryn is more erratic. But I'm very impressed with Dietz. With each game under his belt, he looks better and better. There was a play halfway through the first where he fooled the canes forcheck under pressure that a lot of d-men cannot execute in this league. He's got poise, a good first pass, passable skating, and a good shot. I see an NHL future in his career, but not without some seasoning and strength first.

Four stars so far are Dietz, Thomas, Bournival, and Tinordi.

Three half stars for Eller, Diaz, and Briere.

No stars for Plekanec, Pateryn, and Blunden.

Protecting the puck very well? We didn't see the same period.
