I thought he showed pretty good instincts reading the play, too. I still don't think he's much in the way of an NHL prospect, to be honest, but you could see that he works to find open space and shooting position when the puck is being controlled cleanly, and he seemed to be able to read when to leave his open ice to come over and support as 3rd guy on the puck or soften up and get in passing lanes. Should be a pretty good AHLer, but I still haven't seen enough to consider him a full-time NHL option any time soon (good one-timer, obviously). Just aren't that many guys in the big show that he'll be able to outwork.

Good to know about Murray and you're right about trying to make 3 pairings from this group... what a mish-mash. Can't wait until some of the young guys force the Habs to make a decision by playing well.

Briere was dangerous as always. Rough game for Plekanec and Eller too.

McCarron skates a lot like Keith Primeau!

St. Pierre had the best all around game for forwards.

Everything is going right for Bournival, hopefully he doesn't let it get to his head.
Rough game for Tinordi? You can argue about the 2nd goal but outside of that, he was awesome.

Only Subban & Diaz are right hand shots. The rest you list can do it but they generally suck so...

Back to back games for Colly and Mac against NHL competition for the first time in their lives - not surprising that there was a lactic acid buildup in their legs..they were a bit behind the play tonight. Colly needs to keep working on his skating, he was doing the old "ten-to-two" stride tonight.

Would have liked to see Mac get some time with offensive players in thses games..guess it's not going to happen.

They'll probably send down Mac, St. Pierre, Nygren, Pateryn, Collberg et al tomorrow. Bournival has earned a look until the end of preseason at the very least. Dumont may lose a spot to Bournival.

Give him a break. He just realized that Galchenyuk didn't play for Russia.

I would like to see Emelin with Subban but considering the injury, there is no discussion to be made right now.

I know he fills a different role but do you think White might be at risk. Bournival and Dumont are both better skaters. Parros and Prust are tougher. Wanted to get your thoughts.

You need to stop playing NHL14 when the Habs are playing.

The stat sheet says Markov played over 25 mins tonight. Way to ease him into line up there Michel!

In other news, I'm already done with Bourque again. Man, that guy can make simple plays look like such a chore. Should also be interesting to see if Briere makes his linemates do the hard work all year. He sure likes to stand around a lot below the goal line, even when the puck has been cycled back out to the defense. Hints of the perimeter play some are concerned about, but at least he still seems able to get pucks into dangerous situations from time to time.

Bournival has to be one of the bigger surprises for me. Not a lot of great, but so much good, solid, smart play. It's hard to get rid of a guy who seems to have everything going for him right now. Travis Moen should be crapping his pants - or Bourque, even, lol.

I don't think Dumont has displaced White down the middle by any stretch, and Bournival is winning the sweepstakes for winger NHL cup o' coffee so far. A Bournival-White-Prust 4th line is interesting... but it's hard to know how much responsibility to give them. Also, without Emelin and/or Murray in the lineup, Parros is going to have to find a way in there from time to time, and is Bournival the kind of guy you want alternating time with him in the press box? The whole depth chart is becoming even more difficult to assemble - in a good way. I keep forgetting that Gionta is even on the team, for example, lol.

Not surprised to hear Bourque played bad, Ive never been a fan, I would rather have Bournival playing with Pleks than this former overrated 30 goal scorer. Unfortunately, Bourque's contract is barely movable..
