I don't think Bourque is at all "on the bubble"

I think Hellberg is the established No. 1 in Milwaukee and with his injury they are giving him a little more time to rest before starting camp in Milwaukee this week. Mazanec stays and gets to continue working with Korn and adjusting to the speed of the North American game. I think Mazanec has been impressive in camp and shown a good amount of improvement from even just this summer.

Korn better be spending more than half of his waking hours making sure pekka is back in peak form and the rest of his time getting Hutton up to NHL standards. If he's in Milwaukee I'm not happy

Me and my fiance went down there... first time I had been to a Pred's training camp or practice down there... as I am usually at work or have something else scheduled.
Someone else might have seen something i didn't, but it never looked like an actual scrimmage happened. The first part of the day was most all of the NHL roster guys with a few Milwaukee guys mixed in and was a very good practice- although like I said, my first one to see. Then the second part was basically our bottom six (+ AHL guys) and our additional D-men that are in town (with Klein and Bourque and Bartley) doing drills and working on moving the puck and carrying it out of the zone and all of that good stuff. Forsberg impressed me with his very quick hands and scoring abilities. The preseason games can be taken with a grain of salt, but after the preseason games and watching practice today, I am no more confident in our backup goalie situation than I was when I heard that we signed Hutton and he was already penned in as the backup. Hopefully, he is a little better in the games when his name is called this year.

As someone else said after the game Thursday in Tampa Bay, there was a lot of PP and PK work today.

If anyone else saw anything that I missed, please chime in.

Players drafted and playing for CHL teams are ineligible to play in the professional minor leagues (AHL, ECHL) until they are 20 years old (by December 31st of that year) or have completed four years in major juniors.
So Sissons can go to the AHL.

I don't know about Salomaki.

So 10 cuts to come. Let's guess.

Cehlin
Moser
Watson
Sissons
Rask
Salomaki
Mazanec
Jarvinen
Piskula

And one more, I really hope it's not Beck.

its gotta be Beck, unless we move Smith or Spaling (or someone gets hurt and goes on IR)

Im also wondering if we will get Moser to sign and stay over here(albeit in Milwaukee to start off) or not

I think the best players should make the cut and Beck is easily one of our best. I so wish we could move Spaling. He is so redundant on this roster.

the only reason to keep Spaling is if there is doubt that Gaustad is healthy, or if someone else is nursing an injury an we just dont know it....

I just cant imagine that there isnt a team out there needing a guy like Spaling who wouldnt give us a 3rd round pick or something

i am convinced he will be with the Amirals for some games (nice part of the season - maybe all season) and probably he will be a Pred next year.

One thing I think that may be overlooked in the first two preseason games has been that the line of Wilson - Cullen - Stalberg, who were driving the offense in the first four days of training camp, has not played together as a line in either game as they've been evaluating players.

Against Florida, Cullen centered Forsberg and Wilson and against Tampa his wingers were Wilson and Beck.

I'm hoping and believe that the goal is to reunite the Wilson - Cullen - Stalberg line as training camp begins to wind down, but right now believe the focus is on finding where the younger players (Forsberg and Beck) fit in best at this point as well.

In order for the offense by committee approach to succeed, the Predators need to have a legitimate first line that can be a scoring threat and draw the attention of the opposition's best every night.

I see the game time on the thread topic, but does anyone think we haven't won because we haven't started a game day thread? I was going to start one, but it has been a while since I have posted in here, and didn't want to ruin any mojo if something ha been discussed?

Go right ahead. I've just been updating the thread title to reflect the daily schedule.

The one thing I do not understand is why there is ZERO coverage of the team on TV or Radio until the regular season starts. Can FSTN not afford to at least air one game? I mean like tonight for example, what's on during the game? Bull Riding.. I'm sure the Preds would get a higher rating than that.

Hmmm the expense of one national broadcast versus multiple, live regional broadcasts up against regular season NFL coverage. Which wins out in cost/benefit analysis?

If you don't like the broadcast contract, email Preds VP Gerry Helper about it.

Bummed out we are going with not only TV but Radio Silence on this one as well (as far as I can tell)...Have no idea what we will listen to until the signal peters out on the 119 mile drive home. Regular sports radio is just intolerable (as is much of commercial radio).

Wish we had some coverage but....

It's Hockey time in Smashville!
