Talbot is much more defensively responsible than McGinn is. Is it more important for McGinn to score goals or for Talbot to prevent them?

It's far more important for Couturier to start feeling comfortable and confident enough to correctly develop his offensive game at the NHL level.

McGinn opening up space for him far outweighs the difference in defensive play between himself and Talbot.

^ Looks right to me.

Only change could come if Raffl or someone else just rises above Laughton over the duration of the camp.... or (knock on wood) and injury.

When you combine their performances so far & stuff the media has been saying I think both Raffl & Laughton make the opening night roster.

Laughton wins the 4C spot over Hall & Raffl gets one of the bottom 6 winger spots IMO.

I would find this amusing, interesting, albeit unrealistic.

Raffl-Lecavalier-Simmonds
Schenn-Couturier-Read
Talbot-Laughton-Rinaldo

This is intriguing. I look at this top 9 and see a lot of balance. Switch read and voracek at times could be deadly. Three scoring lines that are all defensively responsible. Couts and schenn had great chemistry in the ahl last year.

I'd like to see balance, maybe this:

Schenn - Giroux - Voracek (young and dangerous line)

Hartnell - Vinny - Simmonds (VHS line - old time hockey, bang and crash)

Raffl - Coots - Read ( 200' line )

Rinaldo - Hall/Talbot - Talbot/Hall (punishing, shutdown 4th line)

Rosehill

--------------

Kimmo - Schenn

Coburn - Striet

Grossman - Mez/Gus

Gus/Gill/Mez

---------------

Mason
Emery

I think we're likely to see this on opening night:

Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Schenn-Lecavalier-Simmonds
Raffl-Couturier-Read
Talbot-Laughton-Rinaldo
Hall

Timonen-Schenn
Streit-Coburn
Grossmann-Meszaros
Gustafsson

Emery
Mason

LOVE that 4th line and think its stupid to say 3-5 minutes of playing time a game is a reason to not have Laughton stay with the big team. That line would be a "3rd Line" on a lot of teams.

I want to ice a first line and two second lines. Wasn't sure how to do that, but if Raffl develops chemistry with Lecavalier, I would love to see this:

Hartnell-Giroux-Schenn
Raffl-Lecavalier-Simmonds
Voracek-Couturier-Read
Talbot-Laughton-Rinaldo
Hall, Rosehill

I know it looks weird to have Voracek on the "third" line, but the way this team is structured, there really shouldn't be any distinction between the middle two lines.

I would kind of like to see if a Hartnell-Lecavalier-Simmonds line would work. Not exactly the fastest group, Lecavalier would be the only would who could carry the puck into the zone on a consistent basis, and they would be significantly below average defensively... but if they could get the cycle game going in the O-zone nobody would take them off the puck.

I thought about that line but I dont know how much it would work. Simmonds and Hartnell are very similar players in a sense that they are the crash the net type of guys. While I agree with their cycle I feel like with the current Lecavalier, I think they might need another holder going into the zone.

I do like hockeyfreak's lineup but I dont know if that will realistically happen. Lavy isnt the biggest changer in-regards to certain things. One of them I think is Voracek with Giroux.

The other I think is sadly Talbot being a 3rd line winger which he isnt.

I'm kind of a big fan of:

Schenn-Giroux-Voracek
Raffl-Vinny-Simmonds
Hartnell-Couts -Read
Talbot-Hall-Rinaldo

-Rosehill

Timonnen-Schenn
Streit - Coburn
Grossman - *Meszaros/Gus

-*Meszaros/Gus/Gervais

*=assuming Meszaros isn't traded

PP:
Lecavalier - Giroux - Simmonds
Timonnen - Voracek

Hartnell - Schenn - Read
Streit - Couturier/L.Schenn

Thought G and Voracek had some amazing chemistry, especially toward the end of the season when they kept finding each other for long stretch pass breakaways, and B.Schenn had some good chemistry with Voracek early in the season.

<Schenn>-Giroux-Read
<Hartnell>-Vinny-Voracek
(Raffl)-Couturier-Simmonds
(Talbot)-(Laughton)-Rinaldo
Hall

-Schenn and Hartnell being interchangeable. Raffl, Talbot, and Laughton somewhat aswell.
-I prefer the idea of moving Read into the top-6 as opposed to Raffl.
-Being deep at RW it allows you to throw your size and skill onto couts' wing via Simmonds and creating a defensive LW winger battle among a few bottom 12 guys, as opposed to playing opposite to read.

Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Raffl-Lecavalier-Simmonds
Schenn-Couturier-Read
Talbot-Hall-Rinaldo

Playing Laughton on the fourth line is a waste of his talent. Better to send him back to Juniors and call him back if an injury necessitates it.

I want the bolded as well. But I want Schenn signed to an extension first before he breaks out! If Raffl can be productive on the 2nd line, then running Hartnell with Couts and Read could be a godsend. Hartnell has made every line click over the years.

The D is fine like that.

For the PP, I want:
Hartnell - Giroux - Simmonds
Timonen - Voracek

Schenn - Couts - Vinny
Streit - Read

I've been thinking of alternate ways to run our forward lines other than the usual ways even though I like having Giroux at center. This is one forward lineup that I came up with:

Schenn-Lecavalier-Giroux
Hartnell-Couturier-Voracek
Read-Laughton-Simmonds
Rinaldo-Talbot-Hall

However it is more likely to look like:

Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Schenn-Lecavalier-Simmonds
Raffl/Laughton/Talbot-Couturier-Read
Rinaldo-Laughton/Talbot-Hall
