Just as the Sabres look really good out there and dominate the puck, the Leafs step up and score. Twice. That's hockey logic for ya.

Honestly, I don't care much about the result. Sure, I want to win, always, but in pre-season it's more about effort and chemistry. I still think we're getting some answers.

Grigorenko looking alot better in this second. Zadorov and McBain still playing well together.

Myers and Hodgson looked very good in my terrible quality feed, and Grigorenko looked alot better that period

Will definitely be sour grapes if we lose but I'm concerned with a lot of the guys' chemistry and abilities improving under the new staff and I'm not unhappy with that.

Hodgson is slowish and weak still - really not a fan. Without Vanek he's mediocre and that's our #1 center.

Two minute penalty on the linesman for interference.

I've been looking this game mainly to get a look at my fantasy league guys Tropp, Armia, McNabb.

Tropp has looked really good, creative plays and speed with great tenacity, whenever there has been a great play with pressure to the Leafs goal, Tropp is at it. I hope he stays up.
McNabb seems to forget his defensive responsibilities every now and again trying really fancy things. I definitely see him getting sent down to stable his game.
Armia looks like a huge disappointment, floating around and not earning his spots. Totally lazy and undeserving of playing time.

Other observations: For a Canuck I'm struck by how invisible Hodgson has been, haven't heard his name a lot. Myers has been epic and Zadorov impressive as well, Flynn and Foligno been good and Porter pretty lacking. Bagnall or whoever that was has made some awful choices and looks way over his head.

IMO, Zadorov is the best player you've drafted since Myers. Not hard to see a real bright future for him.

How did the Leafs not get a penalty for delaying the game in the dying seconds of that period by the way? Or did they?

Offensively Grigs has been better but defensively and in 1 on 1 battles he is still not good. He barely engaged 1 on 1 in the neutral zone on the 3rd Leaf goal. It gave the Leaf free reign to get down the ice with the puck with Grigs loafing back on the back check. I hate lazy. I can live with not knowing where to go but not trying to get back at full speed is inexcusable in my book.

And offensively would he shoot the damn puck. He's had about 4 glorious shooting opportunities and made poor passing choices in each case.

All those lovesick Cody fans in the Canucks forum are delusional - Kassian may never develop into a great power forward like both the Sabres and Canucks hoped but Hodgson is never going to be much more than he is now - Derek Roy II.

He's pretty much an AHL pick up.

Concur, re: Nabber. Undisclosed lbi he's working through? Been a little unsteady on his skates from what I can see on my feed as well as slowish compared to his last outing.

You do realize Roy was a 65+pt two way all situations center for the bulk of his time here. I mean you do know this, right?

I would be happy as hell if Hodgson becomes that.

Interesting. It appears he plays to a level below the one he is in. Looked ECHL quality pretty often last season.

Armia made a few nice passes on that PP. Great vision.

Zadorovs been great

Grigs has looked very engaged offensively. Terrible backcheck on the 2nd Kessel goal however.

Ruhwedel and Bagnell as a pairing makes me wish for the return of Persson and Gragnani.

The Mc's have been bad tonight also. McBain moreso than Nabber

I thought it was more having only 1 d-man who's sure to be in the top 6 playing tonight in Myers. *shrug* They didn't convert on their opportunities early in the second and then fell apart. Youth will be served... and eaten by vets.

Could be. The knee injury may be still causing him issues -- he wasn't fleet of foot to begin with so any lost of footspeed is going to hurt even more.
