Tor - Nyi

To New York :

JM Liles
Joe Colborne
5th 2014

To Toronto:

Adam Pelech

Rids Toronto of some much needed cap space to re-sign Franson and UFA Mason Raymond. They also get a decent Toronto-born prospect in Pelech (#65/2012).

Islanders receive Liles who will help fill the void left by Streit. They'll also get Colborne and a 5th 2014.

Thoughts?

When are people going to get through their heads that the leafs arent going to throw away assets just to get rid of an nhl defenseman who, despite a deluge of rtardation claiming he is awful and is on a terrible contract, is still in fact a useful 4-5 dman.

If Liles is so great, then keep him.

Why are the Islanders downgrading from Pelech to the 5th and Colborne?

Thanks for the offer of Liles but no again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again. Did I remember to say thanks? We have enough Liles of our own, their just priced much less.

Happily. Pelech on the other hand is hot garbage and toronto has less use for him than they do for a pack of skating armadillos.

I'm a big Pelech fan, but at some point I think the organization is going to have to decide between him and Pedan to trade in order to acquire a winger or goaltender. That thought doesn't have to happen for another three years though.

A gazillion things can happen between now and when the kids are ready. Maybe, for example, Isles will have depth at the wings and on goal by then.

I see no reason to believe the isles can or should only develop one or three other.

As to the op, my suggestion to Isles fans is to just ignore the daily Liles to the Isles stuff.

Phoenix would probably be interested in that pack of armadilos you are offering. Could help put butts in seats phoenix offers doan, smith and a conditional first for the whole pack assuming there is more then 5 in a pack. condition on if they can stay healthy for 43 games or more

We don't have any bad players on the big team, except for the enforcers who are heavyweights in their fields.

I see you dont know much about hockey. Liles is not a bad hockey player, not by any stretch of the imagination. I get that he doesnt have much value around the league, but calling him a bad player is both bad form and a demonstration in utter ignorance.

I don't think Liles is a bad player at worst he's a marginal player.

His contract however is bad and anyone who thinks otherwise should probably turn off homervision. Even if it wasn't bad league wide it's terrible for the Leafs.

New York wouldn't take Liles.

Isles won't bite because of the three yrs/$10.2m on Liles contract.

They also won't be interested in 23 yr old Colborne, who has a questionable compete level and is out of waiver options.

Basically the isles take on Toronto's salary problem+ disappointing 23 yr old in exchange for a very sold prospect? No thanks. Let someone else do the Leafs a favor.

19 yr old Pelech is hot garbage?

Then what do you call 23 yr old Colborne, in his 2nd or 3rd organization, still unable to establish himself as an nhler? He is having another disappointing training camp.
Unlike past camps, he is out of waiver options. Toronto will have to keep him or risk losing him to waivers , when they demote him.

As an Isles fan, I would totally eat the Liles contract. Totally. If one of the goalies is the cost, no problem. I'd rather eat the contract than this year.

This is about the only scenerio , where I could see Lilies ending up on LI.

If Snow sours on Nabby and his backup Poulin/Nilson. Even then, I have to wonder if Wang greenlights eating that much of a bad contract.

I would eat that contract in return for a goalie too. I am just not sure Wang would go for it. Imagine, Snow explaining to Wang that he wants top fork out more than 10 million on a guy the Isles do not want or need to acquire a fourth goalie.

On a more realistic note, I wonder if Colborne ends up on waivers? Can't have much trade value and getting him off the roster would give Toronto some options.

I'm curious, is hot garbage worse than regular garbage, or cold garbage? Also, I was under the impression that Pelech was considered a good prospect. Nothing elite, but solid. Is that wrong or is any prospect under elite status considered hot garbage?
