You could add Eberle as well and you still wouldn't get Karlsson.

This thread title should be changed to the value of 2 centers to Oilers.

We don't need 2 if Gags is out for 2 weeks and RNH is out till November.

We will be snagging one off waiver wire for sure.

I was thinking that too,

We don't NEED Yakupov either, don't get me wrong I'm not saying anything about his talent level but we have some pretty talented wingers in our system that I'd rather give a chance for free.

As for centers if it's a cheap depth move Jim O'Brien is a cheap bottom six guy, great defensively and would probably cost 6-7th or future considerations tbh.

He's played pretty well in the preseason as well. He might even hit waivers.

Don't know if the red wing org would but I'd give up emmerton for a 6th or 7th round pick. He is cheap (contract is maybe 600k) and has 3rd or 4th line potential. He pk's and has good wheels. He is our 4th line center so I can't speak much for his offensive capailities but with the right linemates he could put up 30 points. He was a top 6 playmaking center in the ahl.

Oilers need a top6 C filler for a month or two. Wellwood seems to fit the bill. Gordon and a tweener can play in the bottom 6.

If you think Zibanejad is quantity, not quality, you either know nothing about our players, never watch our team, know nothing about hockey, or all of the above. Or you are just a huge homer. Not to mention that Zibby is a center, and centers have more value than comparable wingers. The proposal you are referring to is more than fair to the Oilers.
the quality on your side (Zib) is nowhere near the quality Yak brings. plus Yak has more potential than Zib so its not even close considering this trade is being proposed to fix a short term problem

Any interest in Jussi Jokinen? He's a face off ace and can play as a 2C. Could a package including Niskanen and Jokinen bring back anything of value?

What am I reading? The difference between Z and Yak is huge.

Well obviously!!!

But seriously, there is, in my opinion, a huge difference between Yakupov and Zibanejad. Yakupov has the potential to be an elite player, and is already quite a bit better now.

Yep, but that gif of him deking Phaneuf and planting the puck into the goalie's gut almost made me change my mind.

I'd be all for grabbing Ott like a previous poster offered. Would have to juggle our lines or make some moves once RNH and Gagner are healthy, but it would make our lineup a little more of a pain to play against.

Gotta wonder if other GM's will put the squeeze on Edmonton now that they are in a desperate position for a center and try to make them overpay?

They can try, but I seriously doubt MacT would accept anything less than a fair price. I'm sure he'd rather have Acrobello, Miller, or Lander fill in than get burned.

You won't find a lot of people who will argue that. Most sens fans probably come in see this and don't want to touch the argument with a 10 foot pole xD

Going to ignore the Zibanejad vs Yakupov argument, for obvious reasons.

Da Costa to EDM is perfect. He's a player with tremendous skill level that simply will never make it on a Sens team with Spezza-Turris-Zibanejad-Pageau-Smith up the middle. I honestly believe he could step right into Gagner's position and do a fine job. Probably could be had for a late-round pick, considering we have too many NHLers and he won't make it through the waiver wire.

Could turn out to be a huge steal ala Loktionov to New Jersey.

Yeah Da Costa is the kind of experiment I could get behind... cheap pickup likely... if he works he works if not we paid a late pick or whatever for a 4th line C which we needed anyway... heard he can play wing too? If so I like it a lot... could fit a bunch of places and at least have a big year to get paid as a RFA next year

So let's say... Da Costa + O'Brien (who I like still)... what is the cost on that? 3rd + 4th? 2nd in 2015?

How about Jacob Josefson? Provided you took Volchenkov too.

How about reading the thread? Not one Sens fan has said Zibby > Yakupov. But its much closer than Oiler fans are admitting, considering everything we Sens fans have said (not going to repeat them yet again, you can read the thread).
If you had the first overall would you trade down for 6th overall, a 3rd and a comparable player to Z.Smith(who doesnt look like he'll make the team anyways)?
Mods would have a stroke from the flaming a proposal like that would recieve

No cap space but Josefson I think will be on waivers anyway won't he??? I think he is worth a shot too... can play wing also so if he does not work out at C we can find a home somewhere for him

taking both saves the sens a little cash too. A third would get it done in jiffy. A 2nd, murray would be shouting "no take backs."

3rd this year works, 2nd next would get eaten up by Murray. They're both good players but won't make it in Ottawa but could stick in Edmonton. And Murray loves his 2nd and 3rd round draft picks

But yeah I think Murray would be willing to do it for a 4th or 5th to respect the players, and Melnyk would be happy to save a bit of cash.

I don't think it's that likely he'll be put on waivers, but will probably get the 4th line center spot.
