Kessel coming back to spear Scott while he was being held is what he should be suspended for. It was a totally unnecessary ***** move.

Suspension? Christ, he was winding him up and gave him a little tap.

Can we save the suspensions for stuff that matters please?

Well I doubt any of the Flyers brass want to see that happen to Giroux or anyone of our star players. I won't get into the whole enforcer argument but if we're playing Buffalo or Toronto I think we need so,some with size to match their physicality. Playing Rosehill in games like that might be better than playing someone like Raffl.

Did anyone read that thread on the main board saying that Clarkson doesn't deserve the 10 game suspension for leaving the bench because he was protecting a "superstar" in Kessel while BizNasty went off the bench in anger and should be suspended 10 games?

I... it's so hard to put into words how bad the OP is...

I've seen people try to make an argument that since Clarkson actually didn't get into a fight he shouldn't be suspended or suspended as much but the same thing happened to Biznasty & he still got slapped with 10 games & whatever the max fine is.

I think its hilarious that people keep asking writers/cap geek if Clarkson's money counts against the cap while suspended. Of course it does, it's called a punishment.

Penguins’ Tomas Vokoun out indefinitely after procedure to dissolve blood clot

Pens better hope that Fleury is not Bryz like for them this season...

Quote:
The Pittsburgh Penguins goaltending situation was already a little thorny to begin with entering the 2013-14 season with Marc-Andre Fleury coming off another rough postseason. On Saturday, a monkey wrench was thrown into their plans with their regular season opener just under two weeks away.

After their preseason game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, general manager Ray Shero announced that Tomas Vokoun would be out indefinitely after a procedure to dissolve a blood clot from his pelvis.

Fluery is more like the Stafford of goaltending. He has hot streaks where he's amazing and then other nights where he's horrible or invisible.

According to most leaf fans, it was a tap or shove.

It was barely a spear and more of a shove.

I'd say it's more of a problem that he was using his stick at all while the refs had him restrained.

I saw a spear and an attempt to instigate further.

the intent by Kessel is enough to warrant a suspension.
Kessel knew what he was doing. He is as dirty with his stick as Briere is.

Calling Kessel's stickwork at the end of the fisticuffs a 'spear' attributes too much violence to it. He poked Scott to provoke, and that's how Shanahan should look at it. I went to the video expecting Kessel to go Braveheart on Scott.

10 games for Clarkson is an easy decision; it's black and white in the rule books and Randy Carlyle described jumping onto the ice as a mistake on Clarkson's part. Kessel's suspension will be interesting: 2 swings with the stick and the fire-poking when things were settling down should warrant ~4 games, IMHO. Maybe Kessel could claim he was swinging his stick to clean the ice after wetting himself upon seeing Scott coming at him.

4 games considering his activities while Scott was restrained by the ref sounds right for me. I'm thinking we see 2-3 at most though.

Deploy the Wheel of Justice!!

"Hockey Play

After a thorough review we can find no basis to impose supplemental discipline. This was a hockey play. In reviewing this play, we also took into consideration that Phil Kessel is a superstar."

The only available options were "Hockey Play" and "Paltry Fine."

I have come to a final conclusion:

Sens fans on this site are by far the biggest homers.

And it's not even close.

Did anyone else notice on last nights Breaking Bad when Walt was in the bar it was a Flyers game playing on the TV from about 2005?

Kappinan and Hatcher's name pricked my ears!

I think you were hearing things, it looked like a college hockey game was being played since it was supposed to be in New Hampshire.

I think Kessel's actions were warranted actually. I gained a lot of respect for him.

His first one could use the defense plea. But the second doesn't. And te poke at the end wasn't needed. The problem with this is the people who broke the actual rules were the leafs. Scott shouldnt try to go with kessel, and I would be fine if he got a suspension for sole intent to fight. But if it is because he TRIED to fight a superstar it's a joke. But he didn't jump him. I would lose it if someone did that to giroux. But I would expect giroux to sit a bunch of games for the baseball swings.
