That's a ridiculous statement. We played maybe a quarter of a playoff team with a quarter of our team. Let's not jump to anything but evaluate the players themselves rather than the look of the team.

Jones really did look good.

I obviously didn't see it since there was no TV and I wasn't there but I saw around 15,500 on twitter as the announced attendance.

forsberg and jones are the real deal. they should be in nashville the whole year. jones is gonna be a treat. not much happening offensively other than when forsberg was on the ice.

if anyone wants specific on a certain guy, just ask. i hate trying to write out everything i observed

It was good. Certainly not 100% but I'd say the 15K reports are accurate.

Jones looked real good, and never seemed concerned, always composed..in that respect reminds me of suter, but haven't seen the break out passes suter has. But gonna be a star.

Ellis is also always composed, I know people have given up on him, but I think he is a solid captain to be!

I see people praising salami, but I saw him steer away from a couple for checks do to scared or nervousness...not sold on him yet

Forsberg looks like has a lot of skill, but also may get man handled with real rosters. But with time, he will figure it out. Gonna be great addition

Bourque and Watson were all over the place and looked great..making plays and never giving up.

Hendricks was a little invisible except when rubbing some faces and getting in *****, which we need.

Pekka look good when needed to

All n all, a good game. Good energy and good tempo. Looking forward to the season

Forsberg and Smith both did good job setting up goals. Forsberg was fighting off 2 defenders and controlled the puck with one arm. Amazing play.

Nice finish by Bourque and Watson too, both finished with authority. Watson looks like he's pushing for a spot too.

Spaling and Gaustad have to be on notice.

Didn't go to the game but from what I saw of Watson at prospects camp, he went from a stick of a kid to more of an NHL body with a really good shot. He was roofing pucks when shooting. Glad to hear he's pushing for a spot. He could end up being another Mike Fisher when all is said and done.

No kidding about as ridiculous as the statements that were being made after losing to Tampa and Florida. It was a tongue and cheek comment having fun. So calm down..

Okay that Forsberg play was awesome. The strength to get off the check along the boards and then a soft pass past the defender to the goal mouth and an easy put in for Bourque. I was a fan of Forsberg before seeing that, I'm an even bigger fan now.

There's simply not a spot for Spaling anymore. I just don't see it. I hope it gets resolved.

Jones was good. I don't know who he'll play with, but I can't imagine him playing anywhere but in Nashille. But he needs to pick people off the goalie when they run into Pekka. That was disappointing.

I haven't heard anybody mention Cehlin. I was impressed. He looked right at home. I think he's headed to Milwaukee, but I'm really excited about him.

Hendricks was as expected for me. A 4th line experienced nhler playing in a preseason game.

Smith still looks like a gumby person to me, disjointed, flailing.....perhaps it's just his style of looking "I'm skating fast to catch up".... I just don't know. He mentally needs a reliable line so he can settle down and focus, maybe.

Rask was all over the place. (in a good way)
Watson looked composed.
Forsberg, could be lightning in a bottle, I think, if we get him on the right line.

Pekka was a little shakey in the beginning, but settled down.

I'm not terribly clear on Forsberg's situation as far as where he can play. I know (at least I think) Jones either makes the team or goes back to Portland in theory, but what about Forsberg? And how many games can he play before we have to make a decision? I know this has been covered before but I forgot.

If you don't like the broadcast contract, email Preds VP Gerry Helper about it.
You can justify it, but similarly sized markets...Carolina, Florida, Tampa...have had at least radio coverage for most of their preseason games.

It's not like it's some unheard of thing, and the Predators are in the minority to have zero coverage.

Man if Smith can return to form and Ellis continues to play well, my expectations for this season are materially higher. They were both huge question marks, at least for me. Also, Pekka's hip not falling off is bueno.

I'm not clear on Forsberg, because he played in Sweden last year and when he was traded, his season was over and so he came over here. So I don't know what the options are with him. He had signed a elc with the caps in 2012, and then was loaned to his european team. So?

Jones has that 9 game minimum before he could be sent back to his junior team, but I can't imagine that that is in anyone's mind.

Forsberg can be sent to Milwaukee, but he absolutely will not be. By Trotz's own admission, he's been the best forward throughout training camp.

So according to the Press Release, below are the remaining players.

Quote:
Nashville’s training camp roster is now at 27 players:

Sixteen forwards: Taylor Beck, Gabriel Bourque, Rich Clune, Matt Cullen, Mike Fisher, Filip Forsberg, Paul Gaustad, Matt Hendricks, Patric Hornqvist, David Legwand, Simon Moser, Eric Nystrom, Craig Smith, Nick Spaling, Viktor Stalberg, and Colin Wilson.

Eight defensemen: Victor Bartley, Mattias Ekholm, Ryan Ellis, Seth Jones, Roman Josi, Kevin Klein, Joe Piskula and Shea Weber.

Three goaltenders: Carter Hutton, Marek Mazanec and Pekka Rinne.
Mazanec, Piskula are for sure gone. That leaves 2 forwards to cut, most likely Moser and Beck/Spaling.

Hopefully Spaling gets waived/traded

Moser gets a 2 way contract

and our lines look like this

Bourque-Legwand-Forsberg
Wilson-Cullen-Stalberg
Beck-Fisher-Smith
Nystrom-Gausted-Hornqvist

I'm just not sure there's room for Beck right now, although I think he earns the first injury call-up. I think it's more like:

Bourque-Legwand-Forsberg
Wilson-Cullen-Stalberg
Hornqvist-Fisher-Smith
Nystrom-Gaustad-Hendricks

But if the kid can force his way into the lineup that's even better. Either way, I still think that's a definite upgrade over the way the team ended last season.

I was truly unimpressed with Hendricks. What does he add that we don't already have in Clune?

I hope Watson headed north with the message that he is the first call-up.

Forsberg still has a year remaining on his contract overseas so if he does not make the NHL roster he will go back there to play. Next season would be his first chance to play in the AHL. None of this matters though because I think he is going to be on the roster when it's all said and done.
