Good news, he wasn´t playing with them, except of one game (even in that game he didn´t score a point). I´m sure in this. I´m not 100% sure with who he was playing the most, but I really think it was Jokinen + Dupuis.

The biggest problem is the long season. Shorter season was built better for Morrow. As I said, he can play some hockey, even though he´s painfully slow. The problem is his body, which seems to be very close to being comletely broken.

Morrow looked great when he came over to Pittsburgh, but was completely invisible in the playoffs. He was acquired specifically for teams like Boston, and he was nowhere to be found.

I don't think he can handle the rigors of a full season at this point...but if he gets games off he can be a valuable bottom sixer for the Blues. That Olympic Break will be huge for him.

Swap him with Berglund, worst case scenario?

I thought Cracknell looked like a solid energy guy for Blues last year

No reason to dump him for a guy like Morrow IMO

Why exactly are the Blues breaking-up the CPR line?

I still do not inderstand this deal but as I said before as long as he is on 4th line I don't really care. If he takes PP time away from kids that will make this move suck.

It's a good question. I don't mind the signing of Morrow, but I would have liked to have seen that line stay together.

If Morrow plays anywhere near what he is capable of doing, he'll easily be a bargain signing. I'm aware that he looked crappy last year, and to an extent even the year before, but this is a guy who brings leadership, stanley cup experience, and he's definitely not used to playing for 1.5 million. This is a dude playing for another opportunity to prolong his NHL career. This could be a good signing for STL as long as Morrow is ready to work to get himself a long term deal to end his career somewhere.

Didn't it come out that he was playing with a pretty messed-up knee in the playoffs, or something?

I think it is a good bang for buck deal....but where is there room for him? Cracknell and Porter are great and if they go down with injuries, we have others that take their spot. I can't believe I've seen people mention leaving Sobotka out of the picture. **** that, he brings so much to the table.

Over thinking buy Armstrong and Hitchcock I guess. Not a fan of the Morrow signing at all. Hitchcock's real weakness IMO is putting the lineup together. More options just create more chances of Hitchcock making poor lineups.

Because Hitch is an overrated coach and makes questionable decisions at times…i really don't know, it makes no sense to me either...

I doubt he helps the Blues much, but hard to argue with the price/term.

Because the line was unable to do anything but hit people.
They didn't put up points, they weren't breaking plays up in the neutral zone and they couldn't play defense.

They were forechecking specialists who were only effective when Hitch had the last change and could cherry pick who they were out against.

Sobotka Lapierre Morrow is a line that is every bit as physical and can actually play the game. All 3 of them are solid defensive players and willing shot blockers; Morrow can still find the back of the net and Sobi is a very under-rated playmaker.

The CPR line was high energy and fun to watch, but they weren't doing anything to contribute to winning games. Sobi-Lappy-Morrow is a line that could win a couple games for you if the opponent isn't paying attention.

The Blues have a lot of good forward but no one that really stands out. The Roy and Morrow signings are baffling. They are redundant players on this team and those signings and the Lapierre one push out the very good CPR line.

What a mess. I'm sure they'll be fine and have a good season but what poor GMing. They have the best top-3 on D fortunately for them. Let's see how Halak/Elliott do.

Roy is redundant? I may not be his biggest fan, but please point out to me the other top 6 playmaking centers on the Blues. Morrow and Lapierre add depth, something you need during a full season.

Armstrong is one of the best GM's in the game right now, you do realize that two of their top 3 D were acquired by him right?

Really? Not a Nichol fan?

That guy WAS the St. Louis Blues 4th line. He was pretty fantastic.

The Roy signing was hardly baffling, a playmaking center is exactly what this team has lacked since McDonald moved to the wing.

Morrow signing makes less sense, but Armstrong loves veteran depth and it has served us well in the past. He is almost certainly the 11th-13th forward when healthy with regards to ice time.

The CPR line also lacked a true center, Porter and Cracknell are both wingers. The line had a nice nickname, but I think the bottom line is that they were an average 4th line: physical, but limited offensively and average, at best, defensively.
