Vokoun has emergency surgery for a blood clot

holy flashbacks.... I guess the childhood injury has reared its ugly head again...

Im guessing Tomas will be on blood thinners for a minimum of three to six months... I would be shocked if he played again this year...

That's unfortunate. Maybe he'll be back after the Olympic break?

As long as 1 team has a goon on their team and the threat exists to use him, all teams need one. Ask Toronto and Edmonton.

it is, although the one he had before was thought, in retrospect, to have been there since his childhood injury (meaning he could have actually played in the playoffs that year) which make the new one concerning...

There's a reason why either both teams dress a pure goon or neither does. Toronto still has Colton Orr on the roster, currently injured. Edmonton chose to send Hordi to the AHL last season.

What a total bonehead move. I understand taking up for a teammate but that's the leafs prized ufa of the summer and he just crapped away 12% of the season.

Not eligible to return until Oct. 25. That's one less Leaf we have to deal with on Oct. 10. And hopefully Kessel might be out, too.

Jon Blum cut by the Wild, to no surprise.

I'd bet dollars to donuts he'll clear, that's 2 teams that couldn't make now.

I can't figure out what happened with him. He looked great in his first call-up, then fell off the face of the Earth. Did he get hit really hard on the head or something?

The knock on him coming out of juniors was that he was a beanpole\too weak.

He put on weight and bulked up as the Predators asked, but his strength didn't improve all that much. To top it off, after that initial call-up, he felt that his role and position were assured and didn't take it well when he was sent back to Milwaukee after being horrible to start the season. He reported down there with a less than favorable attitude, and as a result the coaching staff wasn't eager to bring him back.

He's a good skater and good puck mover..he may eventually be an okay PP\bottom pairing defenseman, but never more than that. Too weak, too slow on his reads. Every team in the league has a Jonathan Blum or three in their system.

Darnell Nurse back to Sault St. Marie today. I was so afraid he would be Poile's choice (since, like everyone else, I assumed Jones would be long gone).
