It was unbelievable. Fielder was 9 for 17 when he came up with the bases loaded and 2 outs in the 9th and I was worried he would get on base somehow and the Tigers would win in 9.

Yes, this year he is. That's called being better away from Coors.

I'll look at the sample size of his career when gaging future performance

The Philadelphia Phillies remove interim tag from Ryne Sandberg, signing him to manage the next three years Sunday morning. Sandberg had been serving as interim manager since the Phillies fired Charlie Manuel on Aug. 16. The Phillies have gone 18-16 under Sandberg. He signed a three-year contract, taking him through 2016 with a club option for 2017.

Good for Ryno. Definitely deserves it.

You do that. I opened up his stat page and saw a pretty shocking split that deserved mentioning.

Cubs magic number to get the 4th pick is at 4 now. White Sox probably have to take 4 of the last 6 for the Cubs to have a shot at catching them for 3

Possible but not likely. 2 games with Pitt, 3 @StL. like I said, magic number is 4 (losses or Twins wins)

Sox were one out from a 4-3 win, but Addison Reed gave up a 2 run walk-off homerun to Jason Giambi with 2 outs in the 9th. Needed that bigtime to try to lock down the 3rd pick.

Cant even play the role of spoiler to ruin the playoff hopes of division rival

It wont matter how high the Sox pick

They will just draft the guy who will sign the most favorable contract

Why would you want them to lose a slot in the draft? 3rd to 4th could be the difference from a superstar or another Gordon Beckham.

They already said they are planning on spending to the absolute limit in the next draft.

A lot can and probably will change, but I'd agree he's the most likely pick at this point.
