Canucks might throw a later pick for Leblanc. Could use some centre depth.
Montreal has no interest in moving Leblanc for "a later pick". At the very least, he's a 3rd liner in the NHL with a versatile skillset. Homegrown and former 1st round pick. He also plays RW and hasn't spent much time at C in Hamilton.
The Habs just signed Murray and you already consider him surplus?
The OP might, but I certainly don't think the majority of Hab fans do.
Moen to me is the most expendable at this point. He's still a good player but with White, Prust, Bournival (who looks ready), Parros and even Dumont, he might be a good player to trade. Plus it'd free up a little cap room.
As far as the defence goes, I don't think anyone should be moved yet. But when it's time to trim the roster, Boullion and Diaz should be the ones to go. Boullion will likely retire, and Diaz might be expendable depending on other players' and prospects performances over the next season.
This thread is a year premature, next year the habs are gonna be filled with young guys ready to take new roles. Tinordi and Beaulieu will have a spot in the top 6, Galchenyuk will be either a top 6C or winger, a lot of prospects will have the opportunity to make some impacts at camp for spots (Collberg, Dietz, Nygren, Pateryn, Thomas, McCarron ect)
Next year I could see guys like Plekanec, Desharnais, moen, gorges, Bourque all up for grabs as the team makes room for the younger guys that have earned the spots
probably some interest in leblanc, as there's still a year of waiver exemption left in him for another organization to try to fix him. A 3rd or 4th round pick or a similarly disappointing former top pick.
not saying all have to
maybe a forward or a d man or 1 of each
Pending injuries Tinordi may have to go down
and it looks like Bournival will sent down too
why wait til next year
are all UFA's next season
50/50 we keep Markov if he doesnt get greedy
Gionta is probably gone
We seriously have nothing to win this year, so wouldnt mind giving some of the kids ice time
Yeah I'm with you especially on Markov, he just watched his comrade Gonchar sign for $5MM and Sergei's a few years older, if Andrei repeats last year he'll still want big term and dollars - tough call but think I'd prefer to move him, he'd still fetch at least a 1st or a high end prospect
As for the OP, assuming at some point the Rangers sign Stepan, I'd like to package something together to get Brian Boyle to solidify 4th line and help the PK, maybe White + Leblanc/2nd
