They don't have to schedule the bottom feeders of the WCHA. They can now schedule teams like BC/BU (second series),Michigan (conf) and Miama (OH) again. They are slowly but surely improving their schedule to face harder teams that the old WCHA wouldn't allow them to play (due to having to play a lot of conf series)
Whoa, whoa, whoa.....

Not blaming UW for their schedule last year at all. No need to defend it

I was just making a point on the Kerdiles vs Rau comment. Nothing personal.

Anyways, I thought the conversation turned to Hobey???

As for my remarks, I was responding to this comment of yours...

"If he would have played the whole season at the rate he was going he would have scored more than Kyle Rau (Minnesota's candidate)."

I never said Kerdiles "makes the schedule" and even said you can't fault him for the schedule, but when you're on a message board talking about the game and not on the ice playing it, I don't think this type of analysis is inappropriate

I think both Kerdiles and Rau are great players and great candidates. I just think UW's schedule favored Kerdiles a bit.
Ahahahaha I see .

But the statement I made is true though. Yes, there were easier games but the statement still holds up and the fact that Kerdiles is only a sophomore makes it even better (assuming he doesn't leave early ugh).

Also Minnesota played:
2 games against Mich St
2 games against Mich Tech
4 games against Alaska Anchorage
2 games against Vermont
2 games against Min Duluth
4 games against Bemidji St (2 playoff games)
3 games against CC (1 in the WCHA Final 5)
Total = 19 games

Wisconsin played:
2 games against Northern Mich
4 games against Min Duluth (2 playoff games)
2 games against Mich Tech
2 games against Huntsville
4 games against Alaska Anchorage
2 games against Bemidji St
2 games against Penn St
3 games against CC (1 in WCHA Final 5)
Total = 21 games

So yes Wisconsin had a little bit easier of a schedule, but it wasn't by much.

Record vs. USCHO.com Poll top 20 as of April 15th, 2013 (can't find old Pairwise Rankings):
Minnesota: 9-5-2 (16 games)
Wisconsin: 8-7-3 (18 games)

Just threw that in for an interesting stat line. Minnesota had the better record vs top 20 but Wisconsin played 2 more games against the top 20.

My bold prediction for the year: PSU finishes in 4th place in the Big10 (MSU 5th and OSU 6th). That would be pretty cool to see

Really wish the Wild had drafted Jake McCabe. Kid's going to be a stud.

Wow. Um okay.... It's not like they can't beat any of the Big10. They actually had a winning record against those teams....
1-1 vs Wisconsin
1-1 vs Mich. St
1-0 Ohio St

Maybe you should put your blunt down and realize it's just a bold prediction...

BIG Hockey will be better when we get at least 8 teams and two more added my hope in the next few years. Though if anybody takes PSU lightly they are going to pay dearly for it. Yes they should not compete with Minnesota, Wisconsin in the BIG, but between those two schools whoever beats PSU and does not take them lightly more will win the conference I think.

Six teams in the B1G - that's garbage. It's too bad we couldn't have got at least UMD as well as Denver and maybe even Colorado, but no...

Has to be a BIG school, which is why I hope schools like NW, Illinois, maybe Maryland, Rutgers add D1 hockey here soon so we can expand the league. I'll get used to BIG hockey. Still my Gophers, and will still see a lot of the same teams.

Illinois should have a team, maybe NW as well, but no.

I think they're (whoever formed the new Big 10) thinking naming it after what are monster conferences for basketball and football that this will be the most important league in NCAA hockey I suspect. I will miss not have SCSU, MSU and BSU and of course UMD in the league, although I know we will play these teams (I think) yearly.

With the new changes they recently made to the Pairwise, there will be extra pressure put on the B1G programs without hockey to add the sport IMO.

I think NW is next, maybe it's just a funding thing that they need to get sorted out. I really don't ever see Iowa, Purdue or Indiana adding hockey.

But Nebraska has a team, and a good one at that.

The best part about this incoming class is, on top of being extremely skilled, they are all likely going to be 3-4 year players. That brings a big to my face!
