Watch the next devils islanders game or the next devils caps game. Same thing. The way the devils play they make you play their game.

Well at least we have a PP...but Lavi can't live and die by that b/c disciplined teams that check hard make sure they limit going in the box. It was very well scripted last year especially 5 on 5

We're the first to score on Schneider in the pre-season.

Way too late there for the Flyers. Flyers still have problems with the Devils system though.

Typical Flyers hockey. Suck for vast majority of game and try to win in final minutes

Was hoping Mezz would bounce back, but worst D man again, we are stuck with him, hes awful. Vinny looked good with G, i wouldnt be against that and let Couts play second line, he is gonna bust out this year if he gets top 6 mins.

Ugh, that was terrible. I loved Laviolette putting Read at D with about 5 minutes to go, realizing that 50 percent of the current defense is incapable of moving the puck. Seriously, are Coburn, Grossmann, and Meszaros any more valuable back there than Lauridsen? Coburn can skate, but it doesn't matter because he can't do anything with the puck after that. Having big defensemen with limited puck skills is such an antiquated philosophy, especially with what Lavi is trying to accomplish.

Couts, Giroux, Timonen, Grossmann and Read had a very good game. Seriously, Couts is on a different level this year.

Coburn....ah Coburn. For the past few years I have always been high on the Coburn bandwaggon, thinking he might just develop into the player we expect him to be....to be able to anchor a pairing or to miraculously remember he had a cannon for a shot.

I think it's about time we all, myself included, face reality and understand that what we see from Coburn now is what we are getting for the future. A mobile, minute eating defensemen who will never become a #1 or lead a d-corp

Good Bad and the Indifferent

I thought I put a DVD of one of last year's NJD-Flyers game in my DVD player. Oops
this was a live pre-season game.....oh......sorry....looked the same. Man......The good:
Couterier, Read, Raffl, Giroux, Hartnell, Voracek, Timonen. The bad: Streit, Lecavalier,
Schenn, Mezsaros, Gustafsson. The indifferent: Talbot, Hall, Rosehill, Laughton, Grossmann, Coburn, and finally Emery. The more things change the more they stay
the same. Same team, different year. Unless they get their crap together, and it is only one game.......this is gonna be a loooooonnnnnng year indeed!

I hate Gus so much lol. I feel bad because I want to like him and want him to be part of our future but I can't stand him. He's just plain bad. I found myself yelling at him every time he was on the ice. Granted many players looked bad tonight.

I thought he had a good bounce back 3rd. Terrible 1st two periods though.

That's the thing he is so wildly inconsistent. And he's no longer young and allowed to be so inconsistent. He's 24 and I don't think he will be anything better than a 6-7 th d man. It's sad but true ( great song).
