Injuries happen. Pirri will get his chance at some point this year I'd bet.

People have said that in recent years

Instead Q puts Wingers at C (Frolik/Kane) or sticks Kruger/Shaw/Bolland in spot they cant play (#2C role). Remember when Hawks acquired that terrible guy named Brendon Morrison and let him try #2C spot

Its clear that Q will never give Pirri a legit shot. The Saad to C nonsense this summer and in camp shows that

Pirri is 22, why are people acting like he's 25-26?

Per team twitter account, LeBlanc, Broadhurst, Danault, Froese, Beach, Raanta, Mills, and Shalunov all headed to Rockford.

I think some of you are overreacting to the Pirri stuff. Jeremy Morin is the same age and only now finally appears that he might make the team.

Q has said in the past that he needs to see a more consistent effort from Pirri. Obviously with the injury he probably didn't get a chance to prove it this training camp. But it's a long season coming up. The odds of Handzus staying healthy throughout don't seem all that high. Chances will be there for some guys eventually.

There is no reason pirri couldn't have gotten a shot to start the year.

Send a message via ICQ to DisgruntledHawkFan
I think Morin would be on the team already if it weren't for his concussion.

He was not injured this summer when Q made it clear that Saad, not Pirri, was who he was most interested in . When camp started, Handzus and Saad were who Q mentioned.

He has never seemed overly interested in giving Pirri a chance, even when he was healthy.

Well it is what it is. Pirri is young and hasn't been around long enough to be deemed someone that is getting screwed over. And if worse comes to worst, he can force the Hawks hand by playing even better in Rockford this year. Because then they'll either want to bring him up, or might have sweet trade offers for him.

What Patrick Sharp was to Philly fans, Pirri will be to Hawks fans. He'll be traded and blow up somewhere else.

Really though, we have no use for Pirri long term. He'd play this season and get ousted by TT next year no matter how good he is. Why not keep him in the AHL racking up points to inflate his value, rather than bringing him up, playing him, have him struggle and depress his trade value.

The Sharp comparison seems realistic and I've thought of that at times as well.

I agree with your point about nurturing his trade value. If they can nab a first rounder for him, I'd be all for taking that. Otherwise they need to hold on to him and hope he continues to develop positively.

There is nobody else in the organization even close to matching the fit of Pirri at 2C. He should be there all year, probably be in the talks as a Calder finalist, then we trade him.

Unfortunately, no one in their right mind will cough up a first-round pick for him. Better and younger talent can be taken that early.

I don't think there is any chance he'd get a 1st rounder, either...and I think his value would go up if he played in the NHL rather than being buried in Rockford.

Which one of Toews/TT/Shaw/Kruger do you see the blackhawks parting with to open a spot for Pirri?

Shaw and TT can, and have played wing.

and who will TT displace at wing? saad? bickell? sharp?

also, i don't know that by next year, Pirri would represent any upgrade over TT at centre.

Bottom line to me: the value you can get for Pirri is greater than the value he's going to bring to the team. Especially when you know TT is on his way over for the 2c spot.
