You impute "erratic behaviour" to Bergevin? I get a different impression. I see an improved team in the year since he's been in charge. You might consider the possibility that he thinks the Habs have already drafted or traded for the future at D (Tinordi, Beaulieu, Dietz, Pateryn, etc.) and that he sees a greater need for improvement at forward and goaltending depth. Drafting McCarron is at least consistent with that supposition. It seems to me that a dollop of patience would do you a world of good.

Our cupboards are well stocked with young Dmen
we have Subban; Gorges; Emelin that started with the big club last year that are still young. As up and comers we have Tinordi; Beaulieu; Ellis; Pateryn; Dietz; Nygren to name a few.

In nets a young Price; Tokarski as the next apparent capable back-up and Fucale the heir-apparent.

Where we were lacking depth on the farm was forward, The drafting last year and this year went a long way in restocking the shelves.

Lack of vision? give your head a shake!

Bergevin was just talking last week about 'lowering expectations' because he knows reality has a tendency to hurt the most when it's Bergevin's butt that's going to feel the boot. But what does he know?

I can't say I ever remember opponents ganging up on PK in the Ozone and leaving Gorges completely uncovered.

Bergevin should call Anaheim and ask what they want for Cam Fowler.

Future:

Tinordi - Subban
Beaulieu - Fowler
Gorges - Emelin

I approve of this thought. Ouellet would also complete our d-corp.

I'm a fan of getting 4 young d-men and letting them grow together as a group.

Yeah, he has always been a bad-ass.. He is playing in Sweden at the moment, but could easily play in the KHL. He declined Nashville last year, and got into injury problems this year ( was supposed to sign with nashville.) The only thing is that hen would rather just stay in Sweden and be an important player on his team there then to come to NHL and be a press-box guy or on a 2-way deal. But if you thought Eller was a viking, you should check this guy out...everyone knows Norwegian vikings where the sickest ones.

I'm curious Frozenice, what would it take for you to say that Bergevin knew what he was doing? a cup?

If Bergevin had gone out and acquired even another D, chances are Tinordi would be starting in Hamilton.

Confidence is something either you have in someone or you don't. I blew off a bit of steam, said what I wanted to say and that's it for me. Time to move on, i don't think Bergevin 'has it' but we'll see. Maybe I'm wrong but also sometimes for GM's, it's more about being lucky and being in the right place then being really good at your job.

I'm just kidding around! (by the way!), but it is funny to read Morkov and Suban and Georges instead of...!

Anyways...I agree with you with the above D-core, but that's more for next year IF Markov is back!?!

Gorges/Tinordi - Subban
Markov???? - Emelin
Beaulieu - Gorges/Tinordi
Nygren
Dietz
Ellis
Pateryn
Thrower

Yes 5th fewest shots rings of mediocrity.

We have a pile of offensive d-men in the pipeline, why should we trade for another?

Habs need a physical RHD d-men and trying to trade Drewiske. If LA don't make the playoff I hope MB will ask for Matt Greene service. I'm pretty sure 'Nucks are gonna miss the playoff and trade Bieska

Right... if you watch games on your calculator.

Doesn't matter. If you can't kill penalties and if you can't guard the front of your own net the other team doesn't need as many shots to score.

We need a shutdown guy and they aren't that hard to get. One solid guy back there would make a world of difference. Also, MT is an idiot for not playing PK more minutes because right now he's the best we have.

Doers Green check out physically though? Solid guy but he seems broken to me.

Bieksa makes too much for a low end #4, high end #5. Plus he doesn't really fit the "top notch shutdown guy" mold that people here seem to want.
