Montreal @ Ottawa 7:30pm

1st GDT, so bare with me.

As a reminder, the following players have been cut ;
  • Christian Thomas
  • Michael Blunden
  • Martin St.Pierre
  • Nick Tarnasky
  • Patrick Holland
  • Magnus Nygren
  • Darren Dietz
  • Greg Pateryn

Blunden, Tarnasky and St.Pierre need to clear waivers before reporting to the Bulldogs.

Tinordi will not play tonight.

Couldn't find the lines that would potentially play tonight, but the Habs will ice the following players ;

Forwards : Gallagher, Plekanec, Bourque, Gionta, Galchenyuk, Moen, Brière, Bournival, Desharnais, White, Pacioretty et Eller.

D-men : Gorges, Beaulieu, Bouillon, Diaz, Subban et Markov

The only line I think will be a given is the Gallagher-Eller-Galchenyuk line.

The Sens will have Anderson in nets, along with the following lineup.

Stone-Smith-Conacher
Puempel-Zibanejad-Hoffman
Dziurzynski-Grant-Robinson
Kassian-O'Brien-Lazar

Claesson-Borowiecki
Cowen-Wideman
Sdao-Ceci

Hopefully, tonight's results will be much better both on the ice and the scoreboard. The Habs seem to have a hard time solving the Sens goalies.

Go Habs Go!

I'd say Blunden is the most likely to be claimed.

I hope we get to see A LOT of Beaulieu on the pp. His passes are way more on target than Diaz and he takes way less time to shoot the puck. Diaz is signle-handidely killing every power-play he's on.

I'd say the biggest thing about tonight is the 4th line is playing for two spots.

Prust is guaranteed a spot. Two of White, Bournival, and Moen will be playing opening night with Prust. Who's going to bring it?

The fact that Tinordi isn't playing tonight leads me to believe he made the team.

I would hope that this is an easy victory for us. If not...little bit scared.

That's gonna be such a tough one....I felt like white has made steps and moen looks like he wants to play, but bournival has been olid out there too.

Therrien is making a big mistake not having a heavyweight in the lineup tonight.

Poor Ryan White is going to have like 5 guys going after him, most of them bigger.

surprised beaulieu wasn't cut. I thought he had a chance to make the team but, after his injury, I thought they would send him down and he would be first up. Either they really like him, tinordi is too tired, or there is a potential trade in the works, because who wouldn't need a guy like beaulieu on a team? hope it's not the latter.

Like who?

Parros still not ready
Murray still not ready
Tonordi needs a break

Prust is the only guy worth mentioning as far as I am concerned. Moen is not even a factor...

Pretty clear why Bergevin brought in Murray and Parros.

That may be one the smallest lineups ever.

I know he was cut. And I think it could be a mistake. But out of respect for Ryan White, you do it.

And here I was thinking the pre-season was about player evaluation. Silly me.

****... the Sens are doing the same thing we did last night - icing an AHL roster for the most part against an NHL team. I smell a blowout for the Habs tonight.

I hope Tinordi's there for the season, I just don't see Therrien scratching Bouillon for him when Murray returns.

I often wonder how/why these things happen.

Is it planned among GMs to do this sort of thing?

Wouldn't it be more effective for each club to have your prospects vs prospects? Or is it done intentionally to let the veterans warm up and prospects see what type of competition they're up against in the NHL?

I believe that could be a reason, but I also think teams let the home team ice the stronger team so that the home team can put on a 'show' for the fans.
