On a semi related note. Corban Knight just got cut from the Flames. I wanted him so bad in the off season when we were in the running. Thought he was going to be a good 3c or great 4c.

Doesnt appear so now

Also looks like Monahan makes the team out of camp. While Monahan is a great prospect, keeping him up in the NHL as an 18 year old in the shutdown 3c role is a move Tambo would have made. For the sake of Monahan (who I wanted and still would love to have) I hope they send him down.

But if they keep him up, burn a year of ELC and stick him between 2 plugs who am I to judge

I was kind of surprised to see that as well.

Kinda early to write him off isn't it?

Should have said for this season, came out a bit harsh haha. But the way he was talked up when he was leaving florida was that he was an already pro level player and could step in immediatly.

I was hoping hed come and be a big upgrade over Lander as 4c. But as it stands now both appear to be fairly similar (same draft to)

Honestly I didn't think he'd be ready to start the year anyway. How many guys come from College and make an immediate impact in the NHL? Might just need 20-30 games to get use to the pro game. Or who knows he might need a year or two. Good for CGY in not rushing him, hopefully Monahan is ready though.

I hope Nick Johnson makes the Boston cut. I was shocked nobody picked him up on waivers last season and he must love playing on a team with Iggy being from Calgary.

ahh ya, sorry, I guess seeing it on the main board made me think it was announced he was released from the oilers. I think he will retire. It is one thing if he could get back in shape, but it is just injuries, I don't see any way he can ever get back.

Related to the Oilers i think this really shows how much better our D will be this year. We basically replace Whitney who was not a NHL player with Ference. Big upgrade.

guess the Oilers can't be blamed any more. he just isn't good enough or healthy enough. maybe he can play in the AHL.

Another star player bites the dust in the excessively long NHL pre-season.

@jonasTSN1050: Joe Colborne dealt to Calgary for 4th round pick. Wasn't able to distinguish himself at camp in Toronto.

This board is not going to be happy, me I would have liked to try Joe but Toronto would need to take a contract back.

He sucks. We wasted a 4th rounder last season for Smithson. Although, we suck at drafting outside the 1st round so...

Would have done a scenery swamp deal of Curtis Hamilton for him. Rather save the fourth to use in a deal for a bottom six player.

It will be interesting to see what feaster does with JC. If he's not good enough for the NHL I wonder if they keep him up just to justify the trade and not put him on waivers

The Vancouver trade on the other hand is a good trade for them. I had interest in Dalpe. Probably an upgrade over lander

Well that sucks. I think Colborne was definitely worth a shot by the Oilers.

Oh well... back to the regularly scheduled hodgepodge at C.

I would've done that in a second. But I was never a fan of Hamilton and would have dealt him for a similar calibre return right after the draft

Colborne couldn't make the leafs a team that has had their share of problems at Center, why is Colborne a fix for Edmonton?
