Yea that's definitely reaching. Was a penalty for sure.

You should be seeing that. It's the intermission.

Chiasson with Whitney
Like to see Nuke hit and more puck control
Jamie Benn was all over (in a good way)
Our PP never got set up
And finally...Jordie Benn looked pretty solid.

The 5 minutes is a stretch though. By all means call interference but to say that was a major as opposed to a minor when both guys are going right at each other, rather than from the side or blindside is a huge stretch. Without the replay I can't say it was wrong but watching it live it didn't seem that awful.

Nichushkin isn't going to have a good season playing with Horcoff on the third line. But Chiasson has a good case for second line minutes.

I somewhat agree with this. It sure looked like Nichuskin got roughed up quite a bit. Like others said hopefully he can learn to dump and chase, or find another outlet occasionally

I just don't see him and Horcoff generating much chemistry they are two completely opposite players.

It's hard not to look at how Detroit developed Jakub Kindl and compare predict Connauton might be in store for something similar.

After securing the three year deal with DET, Kindl split time in the press box and on the ice to start the year.

With how well Benn has looked, if this is how he can play for most of a season, I don't have a problem to see Connauton and Benn split time this season. I think Oleksiak is headed back to the AHL, and my guess is Dallas carries 8 D until they can get rid of Rome.

People always need extra D, but his 2nd year might prevent him from being moved. You hate to see a guy lose a job because of an injury ... but that happens sometimes. Connauton sounds like he's earned a shot, and getting to see Benn right now makes me think he has as well. I think both could play well with Daley.

I don't see Horcoff as a great option. Maybe Peverley takes his place and Horcoff goes to wing or at least Nichushkin has a better option. That's the reason I'd like to see Cole with the two old guys and Nichushkin moves up the lineup to play with Eakin and Whitney.

See it's for this scenario exactly that Sceviour is a better option than MacDermid. Sceviour could play 10-14 minutes on the game, MacDermid probably can't handle any more than 6-8. Now with only 11 forwards everyone else has to pay the price

Benn has looked decent tonight, and who knows if he can keep it up, but unless he has improved a decent amount, I would much rather see Rome in than Benn, when he returns

I would say just give it a game. I think Peverley will pick that line up, and Horcoff can play a role similar to Cole from the LW.

Good lord Whitney. That was far from a veteran play...

That's as bad a shift as I have ever seen Whitney play. Let's not do that again.

I'm not saying don't play them together but I think beyond a few games it will be obvious that Nichushkin isn't maximized if Horcoff is his center.

Yeah so this Whitney / Chiasson / Eakin line may have some issues in their own end.

End of that kill was pretty good, especially Kari making the save then tossing it out to clear it.
