He's been so out of position tonight & it has killed us. I feel bad for Schenn that he's paired with that moron.

I've said it a couple times. So much promise last year but he just hasn't looked the same since he returned from his injury last season.

He just got over the flu. I am willing to give him a pass, hopefully he's ready for the home opener.

The Devils mascot needs someone to teach him how to throw though... he is going to separate his shoulder. Awful technique.

His mum probably paid a mint for it...

I bet she makes him wear it, and if he doesn't tells him he is an ungrateful little sod.

That is what my parents did when they bought me a Tennessee Titans jersey when I was 13 as I 'liked the NFL'.

Bundy has brought that up on the broadcast tonight. I have to wonder just how bad that Mike Brown fight screwed up his psyche

The other guy that was good and rarely has a bad game, similarly to Read, is Luke Schenn. He quietly has had a good preseason.

There's a game tomorrow and I suspect more of the "starters" will be in the line-up

From what I've seen of Cousins, he could be our 9th forward (top 9).

Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Schenn-Vinny-Simmonds
Cousins-Couts-Read
Talbot-Hall-Rinaldo

Honestly I really think he needs to work on some things but it doesn't mean he can't work on things with the big club. I like Talbot better in a 4th line role and right now I'd pick Cousins over Raffl and McGinn. I'd be OK with them keeping Cousins or Laughton in that last top 9 spot at this point. But if Laughton can got back to the OHL and dominate/take on a leadership role for team Canada in the World Junior it wouldn't be a bad thing to send him back. I don't really think this is a likely outcome though seeing as though Cousins was already sent down.

Lets not overreact about this game. Seriously, this is a half NHL half AHL team that just played their starters. As for last night, that was the first time the real team all played together in months, it might take a little time for new linemates to gel together. Again, no reason to overreact. As for the Lavi hate, I'm not ready to freak out about him either. If he does get fired who do you realistically expect to come in? I'm just gonna be patient and see how they look the first few games.

As long as Lavy is coach, we have no chance vs Devils, thats a fact. Cant blame loss on line up, he just has no planfor Devils. Lets hope tomm is an offensive outburst.

Let me start by saying I didn't see any of the game and am reacting based on the posts here. If accurate reflections of the team's play in both losses against NJ in the past 2+ days, however, it's all too painfully familiar with the poor habits starting with the loss to the Devils in the 2012 playoffs. Yes, there are players getting decent ice time who won't be with the Flyers come regular season, but if the squad as a whole continues to be ineffective in effectively not only clearing the zone, but coming out consistently in transition into offense, they'll be running uphill all season. And positioning should be drilled into everyone's head by now. They had a week to do nothing but run drills and establish set plays.

I'm not usually one to call for a coach's head to solve the skaters' inability to execute; however, there are some worrisome trends already. We can dismiss the shortened season as an aberration, but I'd think Laviolette is probably on a short leash.

But running drills is very different from a real game, and that's something that the team hasn't been doing as a whole. They had one game of real action with the real team all together and it wasn't like it was a huge blowout. They lost 2-1 and although they started off horribly they picked it up towards the end. It's gonna take time for the new people to get used to playing with new linemates and I don't think any of the lines that will be used next week have been used in more than one preseason game.

As for Lavi, sure he's probably being watched, but that's to be expected in Philly when you miss the playoffs. What I don't get is all the Lavi hate after two games vs NJ that were nowhere near as big of a deal as people are making it seem. It'll be interesting to see the teams first regular season game against NJ after everyone gets back into proper form.
