No worse than Phaneuf last I saw.

People will scream about sheltered minutes, but that's more due to Tippett preferring match-ups with stronger/bigger D. He was on the PK last night. Not a liability like he was early in his career.

The D you want is Michalek. But he probably isn't available. Well, you could overpay, but why do that?

No to JVR for Yandle from the Leafs POV.

Kessel as a rental would net 1st, Domi + something small. OEL isn't even part of the conversation for a rental.

We could slide Doan or Boedker back down to 2LW, but I don't think Hemsky's talents would be maximized playing on Ribeiro's wing.
Yeah, I dont really see why Hemsky wouldn't be able to play Left Wing because he really does like to set up shop near the left side hash marks, but he's not a proven LW.

So you actually think the Coyotes would trade OEL for Kessel? Tell me, when was the last time a soon to be UFA returned an elite young defensman who certainly could be a top 5 defensman in the near
future? Come on...

I'd rate Yandle on par with Subban, Letang, and Karlsson. He won't ever be a shutdown defenseman, he's not physical, and he'll definitely make some boneheaded turnovers, but he's also one of the best in getting the puck out of his zone in the league - in fact, Hockey Prospectus ranked him only behind Karlsson in zone exits http://www.hockeyprospectus.com/arti...articleid=1467

Yandle certainly has the speed and mobility to recover from positioning gaffes and break-up rushes, and his overall awareness and stickwork are above average.

Cammalleri is probably going to be moved this season.

You give Letang too much credit.

Otherwise, I agree. Maybe slightly behind Subban, though.

Salary is an issue. You'd have to take Moss back and retain 50%.

He's an okay player but not a good fit for either of our two best offensive weapons in Ribeiro and Vrbata. We don't need a rush scorer. We need a trigger man or a playmaker.

I was being charitable, haha. Although Letang is way more physical, I've never seen Yandle be as facepalm-inducing brutal in his own end as Letang has been at times.

I understand the whole contract thing I was taking it as a dig on Kessel.

1st off I never suggested that trade I responded to a post that implied that OEL is a better player(has more impact on a game) then Kessel. Kessel will be resigned in Toronto, when they gave Bozak his deal and let Grabo walk that all but confirmed it for me. To that note say Kessel gets 7 for 7 then value wise he is worth OEL but star term for term trades rarely even happen unless a player is cancerous.

I wish I could have a disclosure that says : If I make a proposal thread in the forum I have all ready thought of contract deets. Usually I am simply comparing player A to player B on on ice merit alone.

Stature equal, you really think Kessel is worth more than the cheaper, younger guy?

Could be a possibility, but I don't see how GMDM/Tippett would be interested in Boyes when he basically has the same defensive/effort deficiencies as Latendresse.

Oilers could do Hemsky with 50% retained for Moss + 14' 2nd.

And as another poster stated Hemsky could be moved to left wing, he has occasionally played over there and I've always thought he would be better over there since he likes to set up on the half wall on the left side and thread passes accross or come off the half boards and try to go short side cause he is a right handed shot

I don't know if this has been brought up yet, but why not just sign Gagne?

Low risk fill in without having to give up any assets. Gagne has lost a step, but he is only 33 and still has the ability to be a 40-50 pt player in Phoenix.

Answered your own question. Coyotes whiffed on Sullivan last year in that spot. A guy coming in can't have question marks around speed or health. He has to be a legit playmaker without any major issues. They could have had Hejduk or Prospal most likely but passed due to age.
