Will Pierre Hedin Turn Into our Brian Rafalski

Can this rearguard become our Rafalski, played in Scandinavia untill his mid-twenties, not big but highly skilled, smart in positioning himself to make up for lack of size in the defence zone. Quinn says he's better qualified to play in the NHL than the AHL, I have seen over the years in many sports where the player has more success at the top level, hopefully Hedin will be one of those players. Can his overall skill level and intellegence on the ice let him excell at this level like Rafalski.

A positive post by Red Horner! Congrats REd.

And I think he could, from what I saw last night he has good skills he seemed a bit uncomrtable with the puck, but was playing smart the whole game. Give him a few games to get adjusted then shove Jackman's but out and onto the curb.

Pierre Hedin's situation is much more like Kim Johnsson and Dick Tarnstrom.

I'll be more then happy if he becomes an offensive third pairing D-Man as I believe that to be his peak potential, though I might say #4 D-Man if I was to be wildly optimistic.

Having said that my expectations aresomewhere between saying that he will be an excellent AHL'er, but no more then an injury fill-in at the NHL level.
OR-
A #7 D-Man/PP specialist.

Ironic that my opinion seems to be on the pessimistic side given that I'm a big fan of Hedin.

Jeez Rand! Bad day? First you trash my McCabe thread and now Hedin?

I still think the guy has the potential to become a top 3 guy though that is optimistic.

It's kind of depressing to have a mod who's so pessimistic.

Then again, it is only one game, and it could go either way.

Maybe he burns and crashes after the next game.

Maybe Quinn was right and he really belongs in the NHL games and makes Kaberle expendable.

I'd say chances are very good it is somewhere between. He has had success at the highest level outside the NHL, so it isn't like he's a Chartier or Kelly.
