Quite rightly the Caps & Hanlon got hit a bit harder and it could have, maybe should have, been worse for the Caps. Sutherby could have gotten an extra game or two for repeatedly hitting Larsen in the face off a face off until Larsen had to respond.

Hanlon, in particluar, should have been suspended as well for sending out not one goon to "retaliate", as they saw it, but three goons who jumped Vishnevski, Hossa and de Vries right off the faceoff. Hartley's never done anything close to that level of thuggery since he has been coach of the Thrashers.

Hopefully his antics will be paid for by his teammates because he is such an incomptent on D that no opposition wants him out. Sutton is gonna cause you guys more pain than he is worth. I am dam sure not a Brash fan, but he did it right and Sutton ought to have to pay for the ENT bill for Vishwimpsky.
Right on.

Man, your post shrucks.

Seriously, the end of all this bickering can't come soon enough, it's stupid and it's getting nowhere. We won the game, thats it, it's over. The players who should have gotten fined/suspended did and thats the end of it.

On to the next team.

One last thought. For what the league handed down to McSorley for his assault on Brashear, Brashears suspension was not even close to being harsh enough for his assault on a Thrasher player Wednesday night. The length of suspensions are meaningless to the players. The only message sent to the Caps is that crime does pay. Shame on the league for an absolute lame response to a gang style assault.

How can you compare the two? One incident involved a man getting hit in the head with a stick, the other had one losing a fight.

The simple fact is that if Vish wouldn't had lost that fight as bad as he did no one would be talking about this. The reason why everyone is upset is because Brashear beat him so badly. Hell Bradley and Erskine who did the same thing as Brash (go after the closest guy to them right at the faceoff) got nothing, no one is even talking about them because there fights weren't as one sided.

If Brashear wouldn't have opened up Vish like he did no one would be talking about this. But this is hockey and its pretty simple, and if you don't want Brashear going after people than simply don't have Sutton take a run at someone at the end of a game. Brashear did his job, sucks for Vish because he prob didn't deserve it. But thats the game, if you don't like it than i suggest you start watching Tennis.

Sounds like you know more about tennis than hockey (stupid comment). What is your hockey experience as you don't know what you are talking about!

First off, I don't disagree with your assesment of Sutton as I in no way condone what Sutton attempted to do unsuccessfully. It was bush league and two wrongs don't make a right. I also don't agree with Brashear being hit by McSorley in the manner that he was, but at least it is two goons (keeping it in the family).

So you know, there is an etiquette amongst fighters in the league and Brashear has stepped way out of bounds. It was down right bush league. A coward at best is the only way to describe his stupidity. It takes a real piece of garbage as a player in todays league to skate up to a total non fighter and just start relentlessly pummeling the guy when he isn't fighting back or removing his gloves. 10 out of 10 fights, Brashear will pummel Vish (him winning a fight like this is not going to happen cause he is a non fighter that is not going to accept an invitation to fight). What a proud moment for the Capitols and Brashear. This wasn't a fight, it was an assault on a guy that cannot fight and refused to fight. Although not harsh enough, that is why Brashear received a suspension. Mark my words, the word got around the league about Brashear and his actions, and the league will get him good next time he pulls a boneheaded act like this. He is on his way out. There is an etiquette amongst fighters, and Brashear, Hanlan, and the others involved just set your organization way back, like it or not, there is nothing you can do about it. You will see.

I like a good fight as much as the next guy, but between a couple tough guys that have respect for each other, and most tough guys in the league have respect for one another unlike a bully that wears the name Brashear on his jersey. It is also speaks volumes of yourself to attach any kind of support to Brashears actions.

Furthermore, if Erskine wanted, he could most likely beat the crud out of Hossa. He is extremely tough (Erskine). Obviously he didn't unload on Hossa the way he is capable of doing. What the heck is Erskine doing going after Hossa. Totally against etiquette in hockey. Hopefully you understand that. It is a great way to get yourself a reputation of being a spineless player with a horrible reputation. He has earned it now.

If Brashear felt the need to jump someone, the correct thing to do is go after Sutton the next time he was on the ice (next time you meet the Thrashers). I certainly wouldn't have blamed him for that. This was a classless way to handle things which is obvious from the leagues reaction, but you definitely got off easy. As far as your tennis comment. Say what you want if it makes you feel better, but do yourself a favor. Be consistent with hockey etiquette, casue you are not even close when saying if Vish won the fight. He will never win this fight, and he will never accept a fight like this.
