The three that are heading back to Rockford. Unfortunately, the three that I'd like to see stay.
Agree. And he's not as slow as people have made him out to be. That full ice rush for a goal against Pittsburgh, splitting the defense, was quite nice.
The Hawks will probably carry 13 forwards (plus 8 d-men and 2 goalies) - so only two of those guys are heading back to Rockford - one of them will be the 13th forward. Odds are Pirri is Rockford bound so it's between Morin and Hayes.
There's also competition for the 8th d-man spot between Stanton and Kostka and Kostka probably has the advantage there.
Kostka will make this team because he can play forward in a pinch like Hendry and (scarily enough) Brookbank. Obviously, Kostka isn't an ideal fourth-line forward, but he is versatile. I think the extra forwards will be Hayes/Morin and Kostka and the extra defenseman will be Brookbank and Kostka.
There's no reason that Bollig should be on this team over one of Hayes or Morin. I like a few things he's done in the preseason, but his hockey IQ and talent level aren't very close at all to that of Jimmy and Jeremy.
want to start with the last cuts like Morin & Pirri or go with Smith who is on the NHL roster? They all could play 4th line energy guy. Do I really have to come up with this?
Pirri in no way replicates what Bollig does. Also, whether you like it or not, fighting happens in the regular season. You need a guy that can answer the bell which Bollig does. Not sure there is a team in the league that carries 0 fighters.
