Uhhh Rinaldo's elbow was pretty clearly tight to his side the entire time. What a joke. Washington announcers are such homers. And the referee is blind.

Couturier looks like he's on the verge of getting his offense going.

Mez is trying to play himself into the ECHL lineup this game. Following the great examples of Gill and Lauridsen last night. I actually thought Mez had a decent game last night as well.

Especially since he has some speed to go with that size.

its hilarous how Rinaldo is punished for being so good at his job.

the fact hes able to hit like a freight train, shouldnt mean immediate penalty cuz he can cleanly level a guy..

but alas that aint how it is.

It was the right call. Grabovski's back was facing the whole way, and then Rinaldo hit him in the head. Easy call.

I've lost track of what Rinaldo's reputation is though? Is he the guy who never gets the benefit of the doubt and the refs look to make an example of, or the guy who constantly draws power plays by goading the opposition into taking a dumb penalty.

Because it seems to be both

Yeah stuff like that and Kessel not getting punished for using his stick as a weapon (a few preseason games isn't a punishment in reality) really make me lose faith in the NHL.

Yeah, me too. Hope they don't just give the last spot to Mez cause of what he used to be.

Nice couple of saves by Razor.

Emery isn't quick but unlike Bryzgalov his positioning is pretty good.

Kessel's punishment was being put on the list of repeat offenders. The NHL isn't going to nail star players to the cross when they think they're under attack by a goon.

Meh. Ovechkin happens.

Emery read it right, nearly got there, but the shot was too hard.

"Under attack" when Scott was being held by other players and being swung at with a stick?

Shouldn't matter if it's a star player or not. The right message to send shouldn't be "well the first thing to consider is star status".
