The Sports Station is so close to my place, so I should be there. I'll introduce myself as the "guy with the Indian flag on his avatar"

Thanks for organizing this by the way Lshap.

Guys, downtown's gonna be pretty hectic on October 1:

It’s a street festival organized by the NHL to pump up the volume and excitement around the opening game of the hockey season for the Canadiens that night, which features the Habs battling the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Bell Centre.

Festivities will kick off at 3 p.m. with hockey-related things, like slapshot contests. And all-female indie Toronto band The Beaches play at 4:30, followed by Grammy Award-winning rockers Kings of Leon at 6:30. CBC host and noted Canadiens fan George Stroumboulopoulos will introduce Kings of Leon. The Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation will also be on-hand at Face-Off to promote its mission and raise funds. The Nashville band, whose new album Mechanical Bull is out next Tuesday, will blast the tunes until around 7:10, just before the first puck drop at the Bell Centre.

Then you’ll be able to watch the game on giant video screens set up in the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles, which will run the French-language RDS broadcast of the game.

During the second intermission, engagé Montreal hip-hop trio Loco Locass will perform, which makes perfect sense since their hockey-themed song Le But was played at the Bell Centre late last season every time the Habs scored.

Edit: Place des Festivals is still further enough from the Sports Station though.

Guy with the Indian flag on his avatar - Thanks for the heads-up, but the spectacle shouldn't have any effect on parking/Metro near Station des Sports.

Depending on work, I might check it out earlier and head over to the restaurant for the game. I like Kings of Leon, but I have no interest in watching them from a million miles away and then being stuck watching the game shoulder to shoulder in a crowd. I vote for food, beer and comfort.

I'm bumping this because I want to confirm people are coming to Station Des Sports for our big first game Tuesday night!

Come on guys -- reservations were made, tables will be prepared, beer will flow, food will be served, goals will be scored and high-fives will be slapping all night.

The magic words are, "Reservation under 'HF'".

Confirm here or PM me so I can make sure we have the right numbers. If you confirm too late you don't get in! Reservations are for between 15 and 20 people -- we can't have 40 people showing up last-minute, and only five people will be an embarrassment!

Besides, my three female cousins are coming right after their exotic dancing shifts end, and they might need volunteers to help them towel off.
Dude, that kind of bargaining tactic is just evil.

Then you'll love my stripper cousins' customized routines for each team the Habs play. When we play the Bruins, it's all about head-shots. They have a 'trap' routine with handcuffs against Tampa. But their most famous is against Columbus -- you'll never guess what they came up with for the B.J.s!

I'm up for it. Count me in. I should have a little drinking game ready for the game, so the beer flows smoother. And I could give a lift to some people that live not too far from the Olympic Stadium.

The only drinking game we need to play is Roxanne by The Police.

One group drinks whenever Sting sings Roxanne, the other group drinks every time he sings "red light." We all win.

Maybe not here, but in person... I got to keep my banhammer as a momento. It hurts a lot more in person than it does here.
