Wasn't there talk of Tedenby being hurt and possibly starting on IR or am I misremembering something?

I'd still take Volchenkov in Detroit but we would need to send a contract and salary back.

Doubt a trade comes.

Someone will be placed on IR tomorrow either Elias ( sore groin ) or Tedenby.

Larsson will be sent to Albany. Then either on Wednesday or Thursday after all the teams have their rosters set, Lou will sneak a player or 2 through waivers and call Larsson back up on Thursday morning for the opener.

This is my guess as well.

Elias will start on ir, they will send Larsson down for a day then sneak urbom through waivers like they did with tedenby and butler last year. Hopefully by the time Elias comes back, Lou will have found a taker for one if the veteran d (probably a fayne/tedenby package for picks)

They'll just "send" Larsson down and start someone on IR.

Larsson won't leave NJ though.. he can still practice with them and everything. He's waiver exempt so there's no risk of losing him. Then, on Thursday, they send Gionta/Urbom down and bring Larsson back up. This way, you don't lose Gionta/Urbom.

Could we interest you in our finest (albeit slighty used) shot blocking machine known as Anton Volchenkov? Or perhaps you'd enjoy a serviceable rookie defenseman that could slot right into your lineup and contribute right away in Alex Urbom. Maybe a speedy forward that could use a change in scenery in Mattias Tedenby? We'd also entertain offers on Stephen Gionta and/or Jacob Josefson
We already had to send down a forward that was NHL ready since we picked up Cliche. And on defense we're carrying 8 with a 9th on IR. No room whatsoever.

Not entirely sure if the new CBA changed anything, but under the previous one, when a team sends a player to the minors, the player had to actually go. The team had to have proof the player left (eg. plane tickets).

Even if that wasn't the case anymore, I sincerely doubt he could practice with New Jersey if he's in the minors.

I think Albany is still practicing in Newark on the second practice rink right now, so going to join the team means going to the other side of the building.

How do you mean? They still would have to clear waivers before being sent down. I can easily see a team claiming Gionta. Less so Urbom.

Rosters are pretty much all set.. even more so after tomorrow.

Remember that a team that makes a claim has to keep that player in the NHL. If they try to send them down, the original team has first dibs to get them back and sent them down themselves. We did this last year with Bobby Butler who later in the season was claimed when we waived him.

I would definitely be willing to eat some contracts and cap space if Santini was available. He would be ther perfect defensive partner for Patrick Seiloff.

I'm not sure if we are up enough against the cap to sacrifice Santini.

We will be fine next year.. it's more Volchenkov taking up space rather than his cap hit. I'm hopeful we will buy him out next off-season.

And now the Oilers are forfeiting games due to noncompliance with the cap. No thanks.

My money is on Tedenby being placed on IR & Larsson being sent down to the AHL on paper. Allows Lou more time to work on a trade or try to pass a player or two through waivers either tomorrow or Wednesday.
