nobody else thought he was worth picking up. Hall seems to be a dime a dozen player.

Based on what I've watched in preseason the team's faceoff ability is improved. If it wasn't I would be pretty pissed about dropping Hall.

He's a nice player to have but it's not a big deal if he's not on the roster. We've got people to win faceoffs, we've got people who can fight, people who pk etc.

nobody else wanted a guy who is a face off specialist, can win a fight, can kill penalties and is probably the best 4th liner in the league the way some act around here on a cheap contract.
why is that?

I am actually a little surprised nobody took a flyer on him.

right he's been waived 4 times in the past 3 years... played 79 AHL games in 2010 and has been on the 4th line for most of his career.. sounds pretty accurate to me

That's fair, but the question isn't really his role in an organization in 2010 though, is it?

The Flyers re-signed him this season with the intention of using him in a 4th line grinder / PK role. Without him in the line-up, they have to dress Rosehill as a regular. Rosehill is a traditional enforcer without any demonstrated ability to kill penalties.

So what I said, that they now have a hole that more or less matches Hall's skillset, seems reasonable, doesn't it? (And that's without even getting into the debate over whether it is worth keeping Laughton up just to play with Rosehill and Rinaldo).

is rosehill a lock to be a regular on the starting 12??? i agree that rosehill is sorta slop but he's an energy guy that will prob be used as a spark versus being an every day starting 12

As far as I know, we only have 12 forwards left on our roster, so Rosehill is a regular, pending some other move.

Hall can be recalled once the season starts. They're going to have 13 forwards.

Did I miss something?... I don't believe Hall has been sent down... he has cleared waivers and can be sent down at Homers discretion if he chooses to do so over the period the Current CBA has allotted... Or has Homer demoted him?

Also, Homer may very well acquire another Forward before the Season starts... or bring up one from the Farm... and thus have 13. If Hall is sent down, IMO, he will return if and when Laughton gets returned to Juniors.

As far as I know no Hall wasn't assigned to ADK. In which case he could be with the team opening night without using one of the AHL call-ups the team is allowed (four I believe).

since when is there a limit on call-ups? isn't that only in effect after the trade deadline?

On the waiver form, Holmgren spelled his name as Adam Ha(l Gi)ll.

The biggest reason I liked both adding Hall to last season's team and resigning him to a great contract is that he improved a traditionally weak spot with the roster: winning faceoffs. Giroux was getting overused on important faceoffs, and the prospect of having Hall share defensive-zone draws was a reassurance.

I'm not going to shed tears or cut off a finger that Hall got waived, but was it really the best move? If Hall is a dime a dozen, what multiple per dime is Rosehill?

I don't think they did. People just seem to be using the post trade deadline number and no one is correcting them

Does does that mean Luke Gadzic is not? If you have to look him up, you already have the answer.

As I said, it's a good time to get guys through waivers because everyone has the guys they like for opening night, so they're not looking to claim guys unless they're either stupid (Oilers) or completely undermanned, in which case a team like the Ducks made a trade.

The ultimate point was that even if Hall is a dime-a-dozen player, he was still one of the 20 best guys for the team. Those guys shouldn't be getting waived.

Capgeek has Gervais & Bourdon in the minors, however I don't think they are officially assigned to Adirondack.

Edit: Sorry, Bourdon is counting, Gervais is counted in the AHL for some reason.
