He did. He was the one player Comets play-by-play guy Brendan Burke mentioned by name as someone who really made a difference in this game.

I find it interesting that Cannata has played the last two games. Either the Comets arent impressed with Eriksson or they've already tabbed him as the starter and they want to use the preseason to get a good long look at Cannata.

I know it was only a preseason game but it was great to see them win. Looking forward to the season beginning.

Me too! By the way, have there been any cuts to the roster yet? I noticed little x's beside the names of Walch, Anthony and Liotti (and obviously Tochkin) on the updated roster. Does that mean they have been cut?

I'm guessing yes but I haven't seen any announcement.

No problem, although I might be a bit too enthusiastic about our farm team's preseason games.

Not at all, it's much appreciated. I'm actually quite interested to know how the lines/pairings will eventually shake out, even though I have my own guesses on who will play where.

I think it's pretty much agiven Corrado will be the #1 D. I also think it's likely that Hamill, being the best and most experienced center on the roster, will be the #1 centre. Everything else is pretty much up in the air, including the starting goalie.

I am looking forward to Utica's inaugural season, I'm excited to see an all Canucks AHL team.

The Comets finally make some cuts:
http://www.uticacomets.com/comets-trim-roster-by-six/

Defensemen Louis Liotti and Brad Walch and forwards Wes Myron, John Armstrong, Daulton Leveille, Yanni Gourde and Steven Anthony were all cut from the training camp roster. All except Anthony were invites and have been released from their PTO's. Anthony is in the last year of his ELC with the Canucks and I'd imagine he'll be assigned to ECHL Kalamazoo.

Too bad about Myron, I thought he had a strong showing at the Prospects camp.

Looks like it. I think that was the very first set of cuts so yeah, Gernier's still there.

I'd imagine more cuts will come after their final preseason game tomorrow against the Hamilton Bulldogs.

I'm a bit surprised at that one myself.

Poor guy, I wonder if he regrets leaving school now.

The ECHL's pretty brutal; I'd be willing to bet college life could start looking pretty sexy after another season down there.

According to that article there are 29 players left, including 10 defencemen. I wonder whether Sauve and Guimond will make the team.

It looks like the K-Wings could use some help with diet. Tim Horton's isn't the best route for young elite athletes trying to reach their physical peak.

I hope Sauve makes it. I've been a big believer in this guy from day 1. I want him to at least become a solid, consistent player at the AHL level. Sometimes a couple of a team's draft picks don't turn out to be NHL players but they do play a role for their organization by being dependable players for their farm team. That's what I'm hoping Sauve can do.

I'm pretty sure he left school because of issues with the coach and he wasn't getting played in a good role.

Correct. But Kalamazoo is in Michigan, and he's making less than most of the people on this forum.
