I like Sergeď Samsonov

Little happy post after this heartbreak lose. I think Samsonov bashing must slow-down a bit, he havent been that bad since the start of the season. I think he have been decent and, even if Shanahan would have help more our team, he have an impact on this team. He add something Kostitsyn isnt ready to yet.

By moment he reminds me of my favourite player Saku Koivu. He think he do drive the net often (unlike Kovalev, like Kovalev) and he is quick like hell. His pass are Koivulesque and he is a much more better finnisher than the 3/4 of the Habs. He start to click with Plekanec and he is very good on the powerplay.

I also think we would have a better use of him than Ryder on the PK while Higgins is out. Actually, the thing I hate the most about Samsonov is his number. 15 and 35 are way too similar for small player who play on the same line.

So, yes, he is overpaied, but I think he play'd pretty good for our team and I'm glad we have the gnom in our team !

Go Habs Go. We do lose against Philly, but damn, we beat the Sabres !!

He's fun to watch! And I think he will become better within a few weeks. I like him too from the start.

Samsonov is coming along, to-nite he was creating turnovers, creating scoring chances, the Flyers always knew when he and Kovalev were on the ice, it's only a matter of time that the puck starts going in for him.

he played well tonight.

Samsonov was given more room than usual tonight. Whether thats because samsonov worked harder to get to those spaces or a reflection of the flyer D... thats something up for debate

I was really excited when Samsonov was signed, and I think if you watch the recent games you can see he's really putting a lot effort in, creating things on the ice, it's starting to come together with Kovalev. Like Bob Gainey said, I'm more interested to see how Kovalev and Samsonov are doing come January than in November.

He's streaky....I think he'll have some great moments this year..along with some bad ones. But I think that was expected from the start.

His east west is second to none but it would be nice to see him go north south full throtle more. He can actually take a hit pretty good for a lil guy. He has the tools that is for sure. I still wish Boston had him as he was a home grown product but thats what happens with the new NHL. I don't really like that about the new NHL. Makes it hard to have favorites cause they will eventually move on.

I wish him well in Montreal...and I hope you guys are not too hard on him. He is what he is.

I think 70 pts are likely if 82 games he play

I wish he'd start shooting the puck more. He did a good job tonight of getting into the slot with the puck, but would always look to pass instead of trying a shot. He needs to start shooting when he has the puck in that position.

Considering he's been over 70 points twice in his career I'd don't think that's very realistic. Even if he does play 82 games, 55-60 is a more reasonable point range. His PPG is something like .7 for his whole career.

I still really like the guy, he played a great game tonight, but to expect him to be a contributor every night, when he's never been one thus far in his career is not very realistic.

It look like he cant finnish because he have like 5 chances a night and he dont finnish on every of them, but he do scores goal.

And I still think 70 points is reachable (is it a word ?). I really feel like he will finally click up for real and, even if he'll go into slump like Zed use to when he was with us, he will put big points for us.

Samsonov sucks.

I hope he does better, I'm sure he can... but right now he just sucks.

He may be a dissapointement but how can he sucks more than the rest of our players since he's one of our best offensive player ?

Before Kovalev got out of his slump Samsonov was better than him

I think it's debatable that Samsonov is one of this teams top offensive players. Right now he is a step below Koivu, Kovalev and Higgins. He is comparable with Ryder, Johnson and Bonk who are in the second tier of forwards on the team.

I wanted to like Samsonov when the Habs signed him, but I couldn't. I always felt that he was mostly flash with no finish. In the offensive zone he seems to always be stuck on the perimeter. When he does find a lane to get to the middle he will almost always pass the puck instead of shooting it at the net. He needs to start shooting the puck more.

Something else that is working against him is that the Habs' transition game sucks this year. He never gets a chance to use his speed off of the rush because moving the puck through the neutral zone is such a chore for the team. I just don't think he is a good fit with this team. Hopefully as time goes on he will make adjustments to be a better player in the style of game the Habs play. Or maybe he just needs to be put on a line with Koivu, the universal cure for slumping offensive players.

I don't understand what it is you like.

He turns the puck over every single time he touches it. Last night he made a couple good passes for the first time in a LONG time. He doesn't have the same quickness or speed he used to have before his injuries and he doesn't go into traffic at all to make a play. He doesn't shoot the puck when he's in shooting position. He doesn't know how to disguise his release. He can't play defense or be physical. He's a total defensive liability. He has zero size. He has zero vision.

I'm trying to find a positive about the guy, I really am.

Samsonov is ranked #8, 11 pts, on a team that can't score, 0 PPG, 0 GWG.
Higgins is ranked #5, 13 pts, and he's been out 9 games, and counting...

Samsonov does seem to be adapting lately, and playing quite well. Kovalev doing better (his knee doesn't seem to bother him as much) certainly doesn't hurt. They're generating chances, they just need to finish more. Same old problem...

Like Gainey, though, I'm more interested in seeing how he does in January rather than November.
