Panthers...a repeat of Isles' 2001-2002 Season?

Yeah, I think the Panthers are better with all these moves but I doubt very much they make the playoffs.

So, your saying that these 30-year old experienced vets (at 900k each) can't be effective/useful for 1-year as #4/5 guys while younger guys continue to develop in the AHL?

I think what he is saying is that these moves what Tallon is doing is very smart. Giving time to develop while giving a last chance for veterans in the NHL.

But comparing them to the 01-02 Isles? Please, that team was extremely solid down the middle with some pretty decent in their prime goal scorers. They also had a solid defense and goalie as well.

This Panthers team doesn't have that superstar player, even though Huberdeau looks like a good player right now. Their defense is bottom 5 in the league and in goal, the Panthers are relying on an older goalie who hasn't played in over a year.

This team will work their butt off. And they will lose. And maybe get the #1 overall pick. Which I don't think Panthers fans mind.

People just saying that because of last season, where we had the most man games lost to injury (over 300 in 42 games, which is insane).

Well, people thought Montreal was gonna end up in the bottom last year. People keep predicting based on last season, and fail to see the reasons why the season was ruined.

A long shot to make the playoffs, IMO. This year will probably be more about giving the young guys a chance to grow, stockpile some more picks and look to compete next year. Overall, I don't think they improved enough from last year to move ahead of enough teams to make the playoffs. Too big a hill to climb, IMO.

If it was 2015.

I wouldn't say the Panthers are relying on Thomas. They are probably going to go with a 50-50/60-40 split between Markstrom and Thomas.

Thomas was brought here because Clemmy sucks and he was the best option at the time.

My expectations are low, but as long as they are competitive, I'll find the time to watch them live.

Why 2015? Wouldn't you rather them suck now and then in the next 2-3 years begin to be a very good team?

I get the McDavid love fest. But I don't think one year is going to change a whole lot for the Panthers. They are in full rebuilding mode.

No, he's right. You're thinking of '99

Yashin held out that year, in 98-99 he placed second. Maybe I should have said, the prior year he played.

I would be surprised if the panthers finish higher than 6th place in the division.
