Sunderland have pulled 1 back and are getting some good pressure on Liverpool with over a half hour to go.

Agreed, but I'm thinking that it might be a sign that USC offered him a chance to resign and they got ticked when he refused.

But still, bush league move. Could've at least waited to fire him after he got back to the university's facilities.

So, does Sveum get whacked today? I'm guessing yes.

Astros with the 3rd straight #1 overall pick. Must have some Edmonton Oilers front office people working for them.

That staff is going to be amazing once Appel, Rodon and McCullers come up.

What are the odds Girardi comes aboard? A couple years ago I'd have said why bother leaving New York but that organization seems to be a bit on the downswing and at the very least is aging fast and he's had a good run there. Could be a nice change of scenery to come back home and be the guy who can direct the rebuild of his home organization.

Girardi seems likely. Greg Maddux...haven't heard him being interested in managing but that's a no brainer if he is, give him the job.

I'm going to guess Illini was referring to Mike Maddux, not Greg. Mike was in the mix last time around and took himself out of the running.

Maddux will get the Texas job. Yes, I'm assuming Washington gets **** canned.

I'd say the candidates are
1) Girardi
2) Ausmus

And that's it.

Any chance we can back up a truck load of money to Joe Maddon or is he not leaving Tampa under any circumstance.

What's that have to do with anything? We can trade for him if he wants this job.
