I'd like to see the guy in action for more than just a period. When do you think he'll get the nod?

Hopefully soon. I hear that he is a really good goalie.

Well he had TWO periods if thats means anything to you. But till we lose our winning streak, Backstrom won't see any pucks soon

Interesting that Risebrough said on XM earlier in the week that he might at some point be more confident in bringing Harding up from Houston to make a start than to ask an ice-cold backup (Backstrom) to step in. In context, that may have been down the line a ways...

Looks like today and tomorrow will be a real test for Minny, back-to-back against the Ducks and Sharks. Yikes. I'm looking forward to seeing Backstrom play, but I'm not so sure either of these games are good ones to show him some ice.

Manny looked really good last night against the Ducks. I doubt JL will switch to Backstrom as Manny kept it close. I think that the Wild's backup will play 15 games. JL will give the backup a few games here and there, but nothing consistent.

I remember in the beginning of the season when I listen to some Wild podcast. The reporter said Bäckström will probably play in the AHL. I was like whaaat!?

You got a great back up goalie there in Minnesota! I hope he will get more ice time.

GA avg 2.16, SV-% .934 atm.

One wonders if he doesn't deserve to be more than a backup. I'm not advocating going back to the 1A 1B days of Rolie and Manny, but more likea 70-30 split.

No kidding, I'd like to see more of Backstrom as well. Esspecially when Manny goes into one of his annual slumps.

Thus far, he has been playing just as good as the number one , save the shootouts. I've heard his puckhandling is suspect, but as long as that doesn't lead to a goal- I guess that's ok.

I could only see good things happen out of letting Backstrom play more.
With Manny having less than two years left and still looking for consistency- there is Harding knocking on the door- goaltending situation is up for a dramatic change, and soon Manny won't be part of that. Unless we are planning on winning it all with Manny this/next year, the investment in him shouldn't be so heavy.
Who knows what Backtrom can do?
Many thought Roli was just another (journeyman) backup. Same went for Hasek, Kipper and few other former backups. Not saying we have one in the making, but
let them battle!

Well, Nick had his first stinker today. Two weak goals in the first against Columbus, and a quick hook from Lemaire. Speaking of Lemaire, I am starting to get frustrated with his handling of the goalies. It's the back-to-back games, play both goalies for gods sake, this is not the time for mind games. The last thing we need is two burnt out goalies.
