So, your saying that these 30-year old experienced vets (at 900k each) can't be effective/useful for 1-year as #4/5 guys while younger guys continue to develop in the AHL?
I think what he is saying is that these moves what Tallon is doing is very smart. Giving time to develop while giving a last chance for veterans in the NHL.
But comparing them to the 01-02 Isles? Please, that team was extremely solid down the middle with some pretty decent in their prime goal scorers. They also had a solid defense and goalie as well.
This Panthers team doesn't have that superstar player, even though Huberdeau looks like a good player right now. Their defense is bottom 5 in the league and in goal, the Panthers are relying on an older goalie who hasn't played in over a year.
This team will work their butt off. And they will lose. And maybe get the #1 overall pick. Which I don't think Panthers fans mind.
A long shot to make the playoffs, IMO. This year will probably be more about giving the young guys a chance to grow, stockpile some more picks and look to compete next year. Overall, I don't think they improved enough from last year to move ahead of enough teams to make the playoffs. Too big a hill to climb, IMO.
