It could also be that that he doesn't want to play for that amount. Maybe he thinks why put himself through another season for what amount to close to peanuts compared to what he has already made.

I wouldn't say half of those guys flourished.

Tim Connolly's career faded, good for you. Craig Anderson flourished as soon as he left Colorado, but you won't see Maple Leafs fans claiming careers flourish when they leave Colorado. If you want to start a discussion go talk with your fellow Avs fans how you can get Erik Johnson to play on all three defensive pairings.

We can enter the "after" again in here too.

He was great in Toronto, got starting minutes too

They produced much better than the guys listed above (all had great season until being moved (aside from Mogilny who was 40)... so you want to keep this argument up or did I prove my point?

Injuries really hurt this guy. Shame too because he was a good playmaker during his healthy days.

Connolly was pretty bad in his last season with Buffalo, I was shocked to see Burke sign him and then to say he signed him to be the top line center just blew my mind. The Leafs tried to sign Brad Richards and when they didn't Burke thought that Connolly was the best remaining center and signed him.

The good new for the Leafs is that Richards signed with New York instead of them.

I can only guess that anyone wondering why no team has given him a contract either didn't watch very closely or is not a very good judge of a player's performance. He was terrible in his last 3 seasons.

Well, first the Curse of the Sabres, followed abruptly by the Curse of the Maple Leafs. Curses!

He definitely showed promise by nagging injuries derailed him and probably affected him mentally too. By all accounts in his last year in Toronto he was a good leader for the Marlies team but not quite good enough to crack the NHL roster.

Besides the fact that he complains about every little injury, someone seems to have put bricks in his skates.

Also he sucks.

to be fair he was getting bottom 6 minutes in the AHL, not really a good position to flourish.

To be even fairer, Eakins has no problems playing his veterans. Connolly just completely didn't deserve more ice-time considering his attitude and complete lack of effort.

Sulked for 2 years here. If I was a professional athlete I'd hate to share a locker-room with this guy.

The obvious answer to the original question is: Who Cares!

That bag of glass was a huge waste of time. As far as I'm concerned the worst Leaf signing in 5yrs...since Blake's contract.

At least Blake played like he cared a bit.
