Now, you might say "Ok, make sense, but why is Ottawa carrying 22 players instead of 23?"

#4. Ottawa's owner is already saying the team is over budge for this season.
#5. Mika Zibanejad could earn up to $1.7 million if he hit his bonuses in the NHL this season.
#6. Mika Zibanejad could earn up to $70,000 in the AHL this season.

If I was an Ottawa fan, I'd be a little bit concerned that we're going to see some penny-pinching this season.
If you ask some sens fans, they say they are ok with him being sent down. They say he was not really that good in the preseason while pageau and da costa both played like they really wanted a spot. Zibanejad might be getting sent down to just help him develop more. In my opinion, i am a little pissed being that i think zibanejad deserved to be on the team more than da costa did.

On our owner, i stopped believing a single word he says. I can't trust what he says anymore.

Nope, Lazar was sent down.

Carolina sent down Ryan Murphy, which leaves me perplexed with Gleason and Pitkanen out. Are they really dressing 2 of Komisarek/Bellemore/Corrente?

Bobby Mac says Murphy will return before opening night:

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 54s
CAR's Ryan Murphy, on other hand, sent to Charlotte today but highly likely to be in Canes' opening-night lineup. Roster manipulation.

Who knows if it's the truth or not, but I guess it's interesting nonetheless. Could just be a wake-up call for Z.

Calgary sent down Blair Jones, Roman Horak, Patrick Sieloff and Reto Berra to finalize their roster (Ben Street and Derek Smith who both cleared waivers this morning, remain with the team).

NY Islanders sent Ryan Strome, Joe Finley, Anders Lee, Calvin De Haan to AHL. Release Wetmore, Johnson and Reiter from try-outs, will report to AHL. Ryan Pulock to WHL. (Brock Nelson and Griffin Reinhart have made the team).

Ottawa assigned Jim O'Brien, Mark Borowiecki, Cody Ceci, Ben Blood, Frederik Claesson, Tyler Eckford, Daniel New, Corey Cowick, Jakub Culek, David Dziurzynski, Derek Grant, Wacey Hamilton, Danny Hobbs, Mike Hoffman, Ludwig Karlsson. Darren Kramer, Andre Petersson, Shane Prince, Matt Puempel, Buddy Robinson, Cole Schneider, and Mika Zibanejad, Troy Rutkowski, Michael Sdao, Chris Wideman and Mark Stone to the AHL. Curtis Lazar to WHL.

Detroit assigned Cory Emmerton to AHL.

Anaheim sends down John Kurtz, Rickard Rakell, and Brad Staubitz to AHL. Igor Bobkov assignment is pending (Pending what? I have no idea, perhaps he'll be assigned to a European team).

Sabres send down Luke Adam and Alex Sulzer.

Predators send down Simon Moser.

Bob McKenzie expects Ryan Murphy back up with Carolina to start the season.

Anaheim sends Nolan Yonkman to the AHL.

Anthony Stewart is not on the ice with San Jose today, speculation is he has been released from his AHL contract.

Bob McKenzie says Carolina is talking contract with Radek Dvorak.

Ducks are going to be soft this season. At least for fighting.

I wonder if they'd try to move a guy like Matt Kassian.
After last season where guys like Phillips, Wiercioch and Dziurzynski had to fight guys who were way tougher than themselves, we need a heavyweight like Kassian in our lineup (especially against teams like Toronto, Boston, etc.)

Pittsburgh sent Simon Despres and Andrew Ebbett to the AHL, Beau Bennett to the ECHL, and Derrick Pouliot back to the WHL, moved Tomas Vokoun and Kris Letang to the IR, and recalled Harrison Ruopp.

Something tells me that Bennett will be back, ASAP, while Ruopp will end up back in the AHL.

Wheeling is closer than Wilkes-Barre. So he'll report then turn straight back round and be in the roster for Thursday. We're trying to clear as much cap before we put Vokoun on LTIR. Maatta is getting a nine game look as a result.
