Am I the only one who didn't notice Grabovski's hat trick?

Yeah good point there. That has more to do with us being stupid with penalties (hi Hartnell) then them though.

Kind of moot to talk about them being a pain in the ass though when, at this point, you're at the same thought process I am I believe. That thought process being that we're not going anywhere this season without a proper coach for this team. Plus every team is a pain in the ass really since it's a pro league, but I do get what you're saying about them being especially a pain in the ass. Also, as far as their goaltending, I wouldn't say it's better then ours just yet. Definitely has much better potential, but people seem to forget that beyond the lockout season Holtby only had 21 games played in his NHL career stretched across two seasons. He's also still only 24 years old.

He posted great numbers last season, but that was also one season and it was a lockout season where the Caps did well at that. I mean, just comparing that to our supposedly weaker goaltending, Mason put up a Calder worthy rookie season then faded strongly after that. At this point there's no reason to think the same can't happen to Holtby.

I have a feeling the Metropolitan is going to be a very hard division.
They could try to run four scoring lines I don't see it working though. Beyond the top three most talented offensive forwards of Ovechkin, Backstrom, Grabrovski their best two after that are Johanssen and Erat. Beyond those five, it gets kind of sad with guys like Fehr and Wilson being their best hope for putting up numbers. When I think of a team that can run four scoring lines I think of our team to be honest. We have six guys that should be good for at least 50 to 60 points or more and beyond them we have some youth with potential in the bottom six. That's about as good as it gets as far as rolling four scoring lines in the NHL. The Caps run a top heavy team I think more then anything which is the opposite of what we do. Especially with Perreault gone.

As far as the Metropolitan being tough, yeah it will be. Then again the old Atlantic division was always at least tied for the toughest division year-in and year-out.

Slipped my mind as I was watching the game, I was actually rooting for the Caps. Gonna take some getting used to.

Actually, if the Caps hadn't picked up Grabrovski I honestly think that would be the most top-heavy team in the entire league as far as offense is concerned.

Trouba scores in his first game for Winnipeg. 4-4 in Edmonton. Might get some OT action.

Yeah they have a great up-and-coming young core all at various stages of their careers. Byfuglien, Enstrom, Bogosian, Kane, Scheifele, Trouba, Little, and maybe Setoguchi depending on how that shakes out. Really great foundation there and a better blue-line then the vast majority of the league just on the sheer quality of those four I mentioned alone.

All they really need is a true-blue starter. Not Pavelec.

He'll be a bust when he doesn't score 50 goals next year.

I think they changed one of the goals. I didn't notice it originally either.

Yeah, both of Green's goals (or one of them whichever the case) were changed to Grabo deflections.

Trouba is such a stud. He's better every time I watch him.

I'd very much like to take some of those RH Dmen off Winnipeg's hands.

I'm so glad Pittsburgh passed up on Trouba, that would have really sucked.

So pumped after last night, I subscribed to hockeystreams for a one day tryout to see if it works on my android device. More than satisfied, I think I will watch NHL this year that way.

I find it ironic that literally minutes after you guys debated stupidity of the helmet rule (during fights), a guy who was fighting while wearing a helmet got concussed... Beautiful goal by Hemsky, Grabovski making buy outs look foolish.. Fun night. Looking forward to tonights match!

So now that Danny B is gone, who wants bro hymn back? It's clearly a better goal song. Things started going downhill as soon as we let Briere pick the goal song. COINCIDENCE?!

They should definitely pick a new goal song if it is still "Doop, Doop, Doop".

I play with someone in my NHL 14 club and he's a Habs fan, and already hates Briere .

He's reminding me of last year at the start. Looking good enough to think "hey, he's got some use left!" but also doing stuff that's aggravating. He whiffed on a great scoring chance by holding the puck too long and late in the game fired a really, really weak slapper off a one-timer. He basically gave the puck to Toronto a couple times too.

I don't wanna know what he'll be like after 60 games. After 40 last year he was pretty disastrous.
