Halak to Oilers

What would the Blues want from Edmonton? I don't think you guys want salary back, so prospects/draft picks. Labarbera needs some competition for the starter job.

??? Did Dubnyk get injured?

Anyways, I think Halak would be great in Edmonton. But, there probably is no deal to be made ATM, or else he would have been traded in the Perron/Paajarvi deal (St. Louis and/or Edmonton probably wanted to see what their goalie situation was like)

Dubnyk had a horrible game last night, and a large number of Oilers fans are taking that to mean that he is horrible and a waste of a roster spot.

To the original poster, the Oilers have no cap space, any deal for a goalie would need to involve us sending the equivalent in salary back. Plus, I'm sure St. Louis likes their 2 goalie system. We need a goalie, but that's mostly because our starter is inconsistent, our backup is a career AHL'er (or should be) and our AHL'ers are ECHL'ers. If the right deal isn't there, oh well, we'll ride with Dubnyk. That could have been the worst game of the year for him.

Blues have Halak penciled in as their starter. I don't think he's going anywhere.

If one of them is getting moved it would be Elliot.

Not one game but years of inconsistency. Capgeek was updated today to reflect all the opening day rosters, Oilers have justover 5 million in cap space.

Schneider gave up 5 goals on 14 shots opening night last year and look how he turned it around. Settle down Oiler fans. You'll be alright.

I have zero faith in DD & Pavelec for that matter.

Blues are trying to win now, and right now Halak is our starter. Dealing him for picks/prospects or anything other than in a package for an upgrade in net doesn't make sense for the Blues.

More likely get Elliot. He would be terrible under the Oilers D core.

The roster depth is already insane for St. Louis so there's absolutely no way we can improve the team with the return Halak, or Elliott for that matter, would be getting us. The team is already competing for ice time and that includes the goalies we have so there's no reason what so ever to make a deal this early on.

We need a lot of guys to solidify themselves or get pushed out of the line up before we make a permanent adjustment like dumping a starting goalie for futures, or lets be honest doing some Edm homers a favor cause they're mad at their young goalie for not being the best player on the team.

Lol, Dubnyk is easily better than Halak. If we're going to get a new goalie at least try to upgrade our goaltending. Halak/Reimer isn't an answer to that.

I'm an Oiler fan, and I could easily argue that Dubnyk could be one of the worst starters in the league.

That includes bonus cushion. If the Oilers spend to the cap, some of their bonus money will be charged to next year's cap.

.916, .914, .920 is everything else but worst starters stats. If he had Bruins D in front of him he would be .930 goalie year after year.

.915 and .924 with the Habs, and .923 in the playoffs, and the Habs had a worse defense than the Blues.

He was great in Montréal, IMO one of the best goalies in the world back then but lately he has been pretty bad, might be because of his injuries but that's big reason I don't want anything to do with him.

Vokoun, Holtby, Fleury, Ward, Dubnyk (20)
Reimer, Nabokov, Bernier, Halak, Fasth
Enroth, Neuvirth, Brodeur, Varlamov, Lehner
Bäckström, Bishop, Rämö, Elliott, Emery
Lindbäck, Pavelec, Greiss, Mason, Budaj
Khabibulin, Hiller, Giguere, Biron, LaBarbera
Khudobin, Ellis, Markström, Scrivens, Harding
Montoya, MacDonald, Läck, Clemmensen, Poulin
Gustavsson, Johnson, Hutton, McElhinney
