Moroz whith a scrap and a natural hatty tonight after 2 periods... Wow!

The goals all came within 3 mins

Platzer with a primary assist in his game he's off to a blazing start.

Moroz is about half way to his career high in goals. Great stuff.

That's great to hear about Moroz, I hope that we see a lot of growth in his game this season, I was pleased with him in his lone preseason game.

@Bob_Stauffer: Good night for Oilers prospects in the WHL. Mitch Moroz gets hat-trick (6 G in 5 GP), Greg Chase his 5th in 3GP and Jujar Khaira his 1st

Interested in seeing some highlights of Moroz's exploits in the WHL this year. Never liked the pick, didn't really show much game at the rookie camp - but this kind of explosion out the gate brings shades of Lucic to mind.

At his age and size, Moroz should be able to dominate the WHL now.

It would be absolutely HUGE if Moroz and/or Khaira turns out for the Oilers!

So scoreless in last 4 games then... He has 6pts in 6GP...
Also someone here mentioned that his faceoff numbers are misleading because he has only taken a handful of draws this season. (less than 2 per game)

2 of the 3 goals were something you could consider "goal scorer's goals", with the first one being a great individual effort. If he keeps driving the net like he has been through these first few games, he could have a big year. His hands, especially on the goals last night, are much better than I would have expected.

Moroz has really looked good from the couple of games I have saw. He is driving the net well and it seems to me that his shot and sense have improved greatly.

Just watched the Oil Kings highlights from the game last night and I have to say Moroz' 1st and 3rd goals were powerfull and skillfull goals. Go check them out at the Oil Kings website. It's great to see, his fight is in the vid too but it's not a great scrap, but Moroz won for sure.

he had an assist in his last game, also had the biggest icetime in all season in it, just under 14 mins. the kid is doing great for a 4th liner, unfortunately as a winger.

Don't know if this has been posted somewhere already? And the Oilers tweeted something about it. But some of our prospects are off to a smoldering start!

Greg Chase: 3 games played with 5 goals in the WHL
Mitch Moroz: 6 games played with 6 goals and 1 assist in the WHL
Jujhar Khaira: 2 games played with a goal and an assist in the WHL
Kyle Platzer: 4 games played with 4 goals and 2 assists in the OHL
Bogdan Yakimov: 7 games played with 1 goal and 3 assists and was named rookie of the week in the KHL

Small sample size but definitely looking good

Chase is the one that's impressing me the most. He was an effective agitator for the Hitmen last year but his numbers weren't eye popping.

Lots of scrappy guys that could round out our roster down the road. Give them as much time as they need ala the Detroit red wings.

Anyone know what's going on with Kessy?

True, but its still encouraging to see him put up points. It shows that he does have some skill. It'd be nice if he could pan out for us

Prospect development is as important as drafting. Glad to see we're not rushing our prospects (I.e Khaira in the AHL)

Yes. Or at least so it seems. I think he is the center on their top line.

I would be happy if these players developed into 3rd line players as that is what this team really needs.

Not going to lie I absolutely despised the Moroz pick and still do, as I don't see an NHLer in him. However, he's shown a side of him that we've never seen before these first few games. I think expecting Moroz to have a Lucic like impact is more than unreasonable. If he can be a 3rd/4th line pseudo-enforcer that can skate and score, and move up in the lineup when injuries arise, kind of like Kyle Clifford, I'll be more than thrilled.

Barons start tonight all of our CHL prospects aside from Nurse are in action it will be a good night for us prospect watchers, I think the Barons will dominate the Checkers tonight.
