The all about Yakupov thread [Mod Warning Post #688]

Oiler fan here just so you guys know.

I know that Hall does not belong at centre and I think he should stay on the left wing. When RNH comes back he will move back to his normal position.

Hemsky and Hall look really good together and adding RNH at centre will make it a very nice line.

I like the way Perron (thanks STL) and Eberle play together but even though Gagner is coming back soon after RNH I still want a bigger centre man to play on the 2nd line.

I don't believe Yak deserves to play on the 3rd line so what I would like to see is Yak being moved for a 2C with size. I am not looking for a top line centre man but not a fringe line 2C.

Just for your info I do think Yak is worth more than a 2C and not one that is over the hill or only 4 yrs remaining in the NHL. Is there a team that has what we need.

What is your offer, you would have to admit a lot of teams would love to have a top line young RW.

He is going to be a stud.

Isles don't really have to offer what you want though. The best I could do is something around Brock Nelson and Anders Lee. That would give you to big young forward you can build around (both of whom can play center).

Or you know we could just play Hemsky on the 3rd line and not resign him next year.... So there's that.

Or, once Hemsky starts scoring again and demonstrates he is healthy, you can trade him for a useful pick/prospect and continue EDM's investment in the future.

Yes they could move Hemsky back or trade him but if he continues to play the way he is it won't happen. Just curious the teams that are out there that would want him and be able to give us a 2C with size and hat else we could get

For all you EDM fans this thread is not about moving Hemsky it is aboutif we could make our team better

1 game into a season and my fellow Oiler fans are talking about the way Hemsky is playing ? Did i mention it only 1 game ? By game 10 he will be injured , hope he proves me wrong as i like Hemsky .but you do not trade Yakupov so you can keep Hemsky on the 1st line . Yes we need better Centre depth and a big 2 way centre on the 2nd line is what we need ,heck i would be happy with a big 4th line centre that is physical and could score 10 goals a year while making the other team worry about being hit when he on . 1 Problem they don't grow on trees and GM,s do not give them away

Yeah. It was worth a try. OP was only asking for a 2nd line centre

So you want to trade last years 1st over all pick with elite talent because he doesn't fit this week's line combinations? At least you are keeping the future clearly in focus.

Trade the rightful Calder winner drafted FIRST OVERALL for a 2C with overrated size?

Size itself is overrated and I liken it to a fashion trend.

Need to actually be nominated for an award before you can win it.

There's nothing really wrong with keeping him on the 3rd line, if that makes all 3 lines work, and distributes scoring. He still gets PP time and icetime.

Saad, Gallagher and Huberdeau were indeed finalists for the award.

If there are no nominations then I have a question. How do they get three finalists?
