Waivers don't reset until November 1st. So until then it always (no fantasy if you claim someone you go to back of list) goes in reverse order of last year's standings.

He would be our 4th best defenseman

So the chances of the Habs getting Urbum are pretty thin... Thanks!

The way all-things-waiver-y have been going he's probably going to pass through without a claim.

Don't think the flames claim Urbom. Just makes too much sense to happen. He passes through.

I'd put in a claim for Urbom from the Habs. I think the Habs could use a guy who will just stay at home and play within himself, and Urbom plays a hard-nosed game. Habs would have had that spot filled with Murray, but now that he's out for a month, and Emelin is out, I would try to patch that role, even with an inexperienced guy like Urbom. It might be only temporary. But right now I wouldn't look to Beaulieu or Pateryn for the job, they are good prospects for next year, but I wouldn't mind taking a shot at Urbom first, for now.

Well Colorado has All-Stars like Nate Guenin in their starting lineup today. I can safely say that Urbom is already better than Guenin and at least Urbom has a little upside.

Interesting move from the oilers in that they will be running a short roster with Eager going down.

Smyth - Hall - Hemsky
Perron - Arcobello - Eberle
Joensuu - Gordon - Yakupov
Gazdic - Acton - Brown

Smid - Petry
Ference - J Schultz
N Schultz - Belov

IR: Grebeshkov, Potter, Gager, Hopkins, C Hamilton(will be sent straight to OKC when cleared).

Even if Grebeshkov is coming off IR there are spots available. Trade? Waiver Claim?

Conformation that having nothing is still better than having Eager

Flames passed on him...but he was still claimed. Call it a push, Hudlinator? We both lose...

Yea. It made to much sense for Flames to claim him.

Nope. Actually Dallas Eakins prefers to have as few subs as possible while at/near home. They'll call up/activate spares when they go on a good road trip. But apparently, from what I've been reading, Eakins doesn't like to have much more than a bare bones roster.

Can you think of a reason why he does this?

It would seem as though you would want some competition for the 12th forward spot on a game to game basis. As a coach I would want the 10th/11th/12th forwards to be playing balls out every game they get as they know they might be sitting in the PB for a while if they doesn't play well enough.

I'm guessing, his thinking would be he's got a roster full of mostly young players, let them get comfortable without looking over their shoulder and worrying about losing their spot to a spare. I haven't heard his exact rationale, but I'm guessing it's something along those lines.

Fewer players on a roster on any given day also means more banked cap space, not that the Oilers are particularly near the cap as it is, though.

This makes no sense. When we are at home it's harder to get guys from OKC than it would be when we go on the road.

We got burnt a few times in the past with the last minute call from OKC. Eakins is going to find out fairly quick just how fun this mistake is.

Might be my team with all of our injuries on D right now and the fact they want an extra D with the team at all times since they don't want to get caught shorthanded with only 5 for a game...we could then just waive Summers when Emelin/Drewiske/Murray get healthy and PHX would take him back to assign him to the AHL I would presume.
